Imran Pal, better known as Imran Khan, is an Indian-American actor who worked mainly in Hindi films. He comes from a family deeply rooted in Bollywood—his grandfather was filmmaker Nasir Hussain, and he is the nephew of actor Aamir Khan and director Mansoor Khan. Imran first appeared as a child artist in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992).
In 2008, he made his debut as a lead in the romantic comedy Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, which earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. But after that, a couple of his films didn’t do well, and he was quickly called a “one-film wonder.” He bounced back with hits like I Hate Luv Stories (2010), Delhi Belly (2011), Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011), and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012). Sadly, his later films couldn’t match that success.
During his peak, Imran was often called the “King of Romantic Comedies.” His easy charm, lighthearted screen presence, and comic timing made him a favorite in the genre. This blog looks back at Imran’s journey and how he shaped the rom-com space in Bollywood.
