A musician is someone who writes, performs, or conducts music. The term musicianis a catch-all phrase for someone who makes their living through music. Musicians are anyone who composes music and lyrics for songs, directs a musical performance, or plays live in front of an audience. A musician who performs is often either a vocalist who sings or an instrumentalist who plays an instrument. Musicians can perform solo, in a group, band, or orchestra, or both. Musicians specialise in a particular musical genre, while some play in a range of genres based on their cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Types:

A musician who writes musical compositions is known as a composer. The term is primarily applied to composers of classical or film music. Those who compose the music for well-known songs are referred to as songwriters. Lyricists are those who focus primarily on writing song lyrics.

A conductor is a person who uses gestures to control a musical performance. Conducting has been described as the art of controlling the simultaneous performance of multiple musicians or singers. The conductor interacts with the musicians by making eye contact or hand gestures while seated on an elevated podium.

Performer - Musicians and singers who perform for an audience are only a couple of examples of performers. A musician can perform either solo or in an ensemble (e.g. an orchestra, a choir or a pop group).

Musicians primary job is to perform or sing for live audiences or in recording studios. Styles can vary (for instance, rap, hip hop, rock, jazz, classical, country, folk, etc.).
