The 9th December 2022 episode of Kumkum Bhagya begins with Ranbir telling the nurse that he wants to meet Prachi because she is his only wife. Ranbir realises it is Rhea as the nurse tells him about a lady making a scene outside, claiming to be his wife. On the other hand, the nurse claims that Prachi is his only wife because her touch instantly healed Ranbir when medical science failed to save him. When the nurse comes out and says that Ranbir wants to meet Prachi, Rhea's blood boils with rage. Prachi runs into Sid, who tells her that he told the family that Ranbir was shot in an intergang fight. 

Sid claims he did so because Mihika's life is still in danger, and Prachi claims he did the right thing. Prachi enters Ranbir's room and discovers that Ranbir wishes to meet with her. Dida invites her to go inside without waiting for permission. Prachi enters Ranbir's room and embraces him while crying on his chest. Ranbir asks Prachi to look at him and wipes her tears away, saying he dislikes it when she cries. Prachi asks Ranbir why he did not leave the place when Prachi asks him if something worse than this might have happened to him. 

Ranbir assures Prachi that he is still alive, causing Prachi to become enraged and strike him angrily. Pallavi enters before Prachi can answer Ranbir's question about what she is doing with Sid. Vikram and others enter the room and check on Ranbir to see if he is okay. When Ranbir learns he was shot in the middle of a crowd, he becomes perplexed but understands the situation when Sid signals that he has explained everything to the family. Meanwhile, while Alia attempts to manage the situation, Rhea begins to be rude to the staff and patients who cross her path. Alia claims that Rhea is currently mentally ill, which explains why she is acting strangely around everyone. As Rhea asks Alia to stop talking nonsense, Alia begins spitting facts and claims that Rhea loves someone who loves her sister.

Alia claims that Ranbir does not consider Rhea part of his life and treats her like a piece of tissue paper. Rhea becomes enraged when she hears such things and reminds Alia of her relationship with Purab. Alia tells Rhea that she has the social status of Purab's wife and must maintain it, or she will not receive anything. Later, Prachi and Rhea cross paths in the corridor and argue about the earlier scene at the hospital. Rhea becomes enraged when Prachi claims to be Ranbir's wife and orders her to stop talking.
