On Tuesday at the TU cricket venue in Kathmandu, Nepal defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the final of the ACC men's premier cup. In their first innings, UAE scored 117 runs. Asif Khan led the team in scoring with 46 off 54 balls, including seven boundaries and a maximum.

Lalit Rajbanshi was the bowler of choice for Nepal, ending with statistics of 4/14. Sandeep Lamichhane took 2/34 at the other end, extending his ODI wicket-taking streak to 33 matches.

Torrential rain forced the game to be restarted the next day, with UAE starting their innings at 106 for nine. Spinners Lalit Rajbanshi and Sandeep Lamicchanne dominated the first innings, each taking four and two wickets.

The seven-wicket victory, propelled by Gulshan Kumar Jha's steady 84-ball 67, clinched Nepal's qualifying for the Asia Cup 2023. Gulshan Jha's promotion to No. 3 in the batting order proved to be a brilliant move. He had to first deal with Aayan Khan's left-arm spin before unleashing a barrage of strikes. The 17-year-old scored an unbeaten 67 and had a 96-run stand with Bhim Sharki (36) to help his team reach the mark in 30 overs. 

Nepal Joins The Top Three

Nepal qualified for the first time for the 2023 Asia Cup, which is set to take place on September 2. Nepal will compete in Group A alongside India and Pakistan, with the Asia Cup set to take place in September.
