Star Bharat is an Indian Hindi-language general entertainment pay television channel. It is owned by Star India, which is now part of JioStar, a joint venture between Reliance Industries (Viacom18) and Disney India. The channel shows a mix of dramas, comedies, mythological programmes, and crime series. It was launched on August 28, 2017, replacing Life OK. The journey of this channel started earlier with Star One, which was launched on November 1, 2004. Star One was focused on young viewers and was part of Fox International Channels and News Corporation’s Star TV network in Asia. It became popular for youth-based shows during its time.
On December 18, 2011, Star One was rebranded as Life OK. This version of the channel focused more on family dramas, spiritual shows, and crime stories. This change aimed to connect more with Hindi-speaking families across India. The channel introduced dramas, comedy shows, and serials with social themes, appealing to a wide range of viewers.
In 2022, Star Bharat got a new look with a fresh logo and tagline, “Dil Deke Dekho Zara”. This update highlighted love and romance in its storytelling, while still continuing family and social dramas. By 2025, Star Bharat remains an important Hindi entertainment channel. It continues to offer daily serials, comedy shows, and mythological series. With the merger of Disney India and Reliance’s Viacom18, Star Bharat is now under the JioStar umbrella. Many of its shows are also available on the new JioHotstar streaming service, launched in 2025 after the merger of Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema.
