Top 10 Kollywood movies of 2022

Tamil cinema, often known as Kollywood, is a subset of Indian cinema that primarily produces films in the Tamil language. Based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu's Kodambakkam neighborhood, it is known as Kollywood—a combination of the phrases Kodambakkam and Hollywood. R. Nataraja Mudaliar directed Keechaka Vadham, the first silent film in Tamil, in 1918. Kalidas, the first talking-head feature film in Tamil.

Since then Tamil Cinema has given us the most prominent and epic films. Madras (now Chennai), where the Tamil film industry was first created, later served as a secondary center for Sri Lankan, Bollywood, and other South Indian film industries. Tamil movies from India gained a global presence over the last quarter of the 20th century by being released in an increasing number of places.

Ponniyin Selvan-1 (PS-I)

Ponniyin Selvan:1  Based on Kalki's historical work from fifty years ago, PS 1 is a historical fiction film in Tamil. The majority of the individuals and more of the historical events in the film are real. Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Jayaram, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Ashwin Kakumanu are among the movie's prominent cast members; R. Sarathkumar, R. Rocketry: The Nambi Effect

The life of Nambi Narayanan, a former scientist and aerospace engineer for the Indian Space Research Organization who was charged with espionage, is the subject of the Indian biographical drama film rocketry: The Nambi Effect. In addition to writing the script and directing the film, R. Madhavan also portrays Nambi Narayanan.

The film, which was simultaneously shot in Hindi, Tamil, and English under the title Rocketry: Nambi Vilaivu, has a Sam CS soundtrack. The Rocketry is a biographical film based on the life of Nambi Narayanan, a former scientist at ISRO who struggled for justice for many years after being wrongfully convicted of espionage.

The story of Nambi Narayanan's stellar career as an ISRO scientist is told in the book Rocketry, along with how he was treated after a false espionage accusation was brought against him. Madhavan deserves kudos for choosing an obscure subject and, more crucially, for not diluting it with "filmi" features. Without a doubt, the audience needs to hear the story of Rocketry. However, there is a movie that only partially relates to that idea.

RRR - Raththam Ranam Rowthiram

S. S. Rajamouli of Bahubali fame is the director of the multilingual Indian period action drama film RRR, also referred as Raththam Ranam RowthiraBesides Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, and Alison Doody, the celebrity cast so includes Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, and Olivia Morris. The film is directed by A. Sreekar Prasad, with cinematography by K. K. Senthil Kumar, and music composed by M. M. Keeravani. It is produced by D. V. V. Danayya of DVV Entertainment.

The fictional story of Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Rama Rao), two Indian revolutionaries who battled against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad, respectively, is told in the film RRR.

It may appear impressive in and of itself to pull together a multi-starrer with Jr. NTR and Ram Charan playing the key roles. However, Rajamouli succeeds even when it comes to the narrative. Jr. NTR delivers the best performance of his career. His charisma as Bheem shines, especially during the more emotional scenes, ahis love for Ramaraju and his yearning to find Malli areis clearly conveyed. Ram Charan performs admirably as well, putting heart into the changes his character goes through. Additionally, Rajamouli cleverluses several clichésre introduced in the first half of the movie.

KGF Chapter 2

KGF Chapter 2, often known as KGF 2, is a follow-up to the popular film KGF, which was helmed by Prashanth Neel. The primary actor in the film is Yash, who plays Rocky Bhai. Along with Malavika Avinash, Anant Nag, and Achyuth Kumar, Srinidhi Shetty portrayed the female lead.

KGF 2 picks up right where the first film leaves off, but there's a twist: Prakash Raj steps in for Anant Nag. Although both actors are superb actors, the replacement, or at least the brief moment of perplexity, felt a little like a break. In the movie, Rocky (Yash) gets control of Kolar Gold Fields and establishes his vast empire, but destiny has other things in store for him since Garuda's brother Adheera (Sanjay Dutt) enters the picture, clearly with a grander scheme.

Vikram

Lokesh Kanagaraj wrote and directed the action-thriller Vikram in Tamil. In the lead roles of Vikram, Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil, and Vijay Sethupathi are featured in the cast. Mahendran and Kamal Haasan made the film under the auspices of Raj Kamal Films International. Anirudh Ravichander is the composer of the movie's soundtrack and score.

The Story revolves around a special agent who looks into a murder that was perpetrated by a group of masked serial killers. But a confusing web of hints quickly directs him to Chennai's drug lord. The film, which was dubbed in Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam, was released on the same day in both the Telugu and Hindi versions under the titles Vikram Hitlist.

Gargi

Featuring Sai Pallavi and Kaali Venkat in the key parts, Gargi is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language legal drama film produced by Blacky, Genie & My Left Foot Productions and written by Hariharan Raju and Gautham Ramachandran. Govind Vasantha wrote the soundtrack for the movie, and Sraiyanti was in charge of the photography. the social message, the storyline, the direction, and the acting of the actors.

The narrative revolves around a schoolteacher who works with a young lawyer with no courtroom experience to try to prove her father's innocence when he is accused of abusing a child. Gautham Ramachandran's Gargi, a masterfully filmed, sobering drama that plays out more like a suspenseful thriller, is a crucial movie in this #MeToo era. The writing is multi-layered and effectively conveys the complexity of crimes involving sexual abuse.

Valimai

The Tamil action-thriller film Valimai was written and directed by Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru star H. Vinoth. It was also produced by Boney Kapoor under the banner of Bayview Projects LLP. Ajith Kumar and Huma Qureshi play the leading parts in the movie's star cast. Nirav Shah is in charge of the cinematography, and Yuvan Shankar Raja is responsible for the audio and film score.

The plot of Valimai centers on Arjun (played by Ajith), an honorable police officer from Madurai who travels to Chennai to crack a case involving a dangerous motorcycle gang known as Satan's Slave. The renowned company is controlled by the gang's boss, Wolfranga (Kartikeya). An action scene saves the movie every time the narration falters and monotony creeps in. This movie features numerous chase scenes, and each one keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Love Today

AGS Entertainment's Kalapathi S. Aghoram is the producer of the 2022 Tamil-language romantic comedy-drama Love Today, written and directed by Pradeep Ranganathan of the Comali fame. Ivana, Raveena Ravi, Pradeep Ranganathan (in his acting debut), and Pradeep Ranganathan all play key roles in the movie. On November 4, 2022, Love Today was theatrically launched. The movie was a box office hit, earning 50 crores against a 5-crore budget, and it was one of the highest-grossing Tamil movies of 2022.

The young student at the center of the storyline lives with his father and receives lavish treatment. He falls in love with the daughter of a strict police officer, but she doesn't return his affections; as a result, she is forced to leave town since her father fears an affair between the two.

Beast

Nelson Dilipkumar wrote and directed the Tamil action and romantic film Beast. In Beast, Yogi Babu, Shine Tom Chacko, VTV Ganesh, Selvaragavan, Redin Kingsley, and Aparna Das play supporting parts with Thalapathy Vijay and Pooja Hegde in the key roles. Manoj Paramahamsa handled the cinematography, and Anirudh Ravichander wrote the music.

The protagonist of the narrative, former RAW agent Veera, is forced to confront his concerns when a terrorist group kidnaps him and other mall patrons and demands the return of their leader, who Veera kidnapped.

Etharkkum Thunindhavan

Tamil action thriller Etharkkum Thunindhavan was written and directed by Pandiraj, and it was made by Sun Pictures. Suriya Sivakumar, Vinay Rai, and Priyanka Arul Mohan are among the movie's leading actors. D. Imman composed the music, and R. Rathnavelu and Ruben handled the cinematography and editing, respectively.

The Plot centers around a fearless attorney Kannabiran investigates the unexplained deaths of young women and brings him to criminal mastermind Inba, who is in charge of a network that takes advantage of and extorts trusting women to obtain favors for influential men. Pandiraj is so fixated on his story that he spoon-feeds emotions to the audience after he makes a point. You lack the freedom to choose how you feel.
