The best anime seizes your attention and won't let go. We've lost track of the number of hours we've lost to Japan's finest animated exports over the years, whether it was existential sci-fi classics like Neon Genesis Evangelion or heart-pounding sports programs like Haikyu.

But it could be unsettling. Where do you begin if you are a newcomer? And which television programs ought you lean toward if you're seeking anything fresh? It's a near-impossible undertaking with hundreds of shows and thousands of hours of episodes to sort through. In response, we are here. We've put up a list of the top 15 anime series below, including both must-see classics and our personal favorites. Also, it's not entirely shonen-based. Other genres like sports, slice-of-life and even romance are thrown at us.

So join us as we go over the top anime available to watch in 2022. You simply might discover your new favorite animated program.

  1. Attack On Titan

The main premise of Attack on Titan, which is based on a manga series, started in 2009 by Hajime Isayama, is humanity's ongoing conflict with the terrifying Titans that lurk just outside the boundaries of civilization. A little boy named Eren Yeager vows to take revenge after witnessing his mother being killed by a Titan.

What comes next is an anime series with a corpse count that would make Game of Thrones blush, heart-pounding action, and spine-tingling moments of dread. It stands taller than most anime for its ongoing capacity to transform among some genuinely surprising turns. What started out as an apparently straightforward man vs. monster anime evolved into a more in-depth investigation of morality, retaliation, and whether or not someone should be defined by their past transgressions. All anime enthusiasts must see this, especially before the series' last episodes in 2023.

  1. Death Note

Start with Death Note if you're new to anime and don't know where to start. The English dub is not only just as outstanding as the version with subtitles (a true rarity), but it also features one of the most famous Western arcs: good-guy-turned-bad, in the vein of Breaking Bad or Ozark. Light Yagami, a teenager discovers the titular Death Note, a notepad that enables its possessor to murder anyone secretly by simply writing down their name.

As a result of using this power to knock some of Japan's most seasoned criminals off their feet, Light unavoidably begins to dream a little bigger. A captivating cat-and-mouse game between Light and master detective L develops as the net tightens around him. Death Note is a gripping drama that deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence as some of the most talked-about prestige dramas on television. It will keep you fascinated until the very final scene.

  1. Demon Slayer

With some of the most thrilling and intense action scenes ever captured on film, Demon Slayer is currently the most-watched anime on the planet. Ufotable, a studio known for its mastery of action, exceeds even its own high expectations in this film. In the popular anime, Tanjiro sets out to join the Demon Slayer Corps in order to get revenge on the demons that killed his family. Tanjiro encounters terrifying members of the Demon Moon clan throughout his travels.

Demon Slayer balances its ferocity with a few real laugh-out-loud moments, like the majority of the best anime. Zenitsu, a cowardly warrior who can only battle while dozing, and Inosuke, an impetuous youth with a boar's head, are constantly there to prevent things from becoming very sentimental. The show's vicious and balletic demon-versus-demon-slayer battles are the actual centerpiece. They alone are worth the admission cost.

  1. Fruits Basket

Teenager Tohru is granted a second chance at life by the Sohma family following the death of her mother. Tohru quickly learns about the Sohma curse, which causes members of the family to transform into animals from the Chinese Zodiac. It's a rather silly notion, yet it hides the true essence of Fruits Basket.

Tohru is a kindhearted person who is committed to mending the Sohma family's problems. This slice-of-life anime's leisurely, measured pace frequently takes some unexpected turns and will have you reaching for Kleenex as it draws to a close. Additionally, we advise choosing the 2019 remake over the original because it is a more accurate representation of the source material.

  1. Haikyu

The story of Hinata, a tiny volleyball player at Karasuno High with grand aspirations to be the best in the world, is followed in Haikyu. But the beauty of Haikyu is that you don't have to love volleyball or even sports in general to appreciate it. Alongside Hinata, the show gradually increases your grasp of the game, and each season typically culminates in dramatic battles that rival any shonen anime in terms of raw passion.

You'll laugh, clap, and gasp as Haikyu progresses as Karasuno's unconventional team which includes the frugal meticulous setter Kageyama and anxious wallflower Sugawara suffers through the highs and lows of high school volleyball. For those who wish to first dunk their toes in the sports anime pool, this is the ideal starting point.

  1. Jojo’s Bizzare Adventures

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is an incredibly popular anime of all time. With Stone Ocean on Netflix, the animation has been ongoing for more than a decade. Every new season of the show, which is really an anthology, tells the story of a different Joestar family member, a group endowed with superhuman abilities that defends them in their seemingly endless conflict with the show's villain Dio and his numerous followers.

The continual ability of Jojo's to reinvent itself is what draws people in. Each season feels like a brand-new anime waiting to be eaten, starting with the first series and continuing through Stardust Crusaders and beyond. Additionally, it's loud and colorful, taking anime back to an era when it might have been a little less muted. You could do much worse than JoJo's Bizarre Adventure as a celebration of the strange and amazing, with some downright ludicrous bouts thrown in for good measure.

  1. Mob Psycho 100

Strong protagonists with a feeling of destiny are a common feature of anime. The most overused stereotype in the genre is thrown out in the shonen anime Mob Psycho 100. Mob, one of the most potent psychics in the entire globe, who is a quiet, timid boy, is featured in the show. There's a catch, though. He chooses to suppress his emotions and abilities rather than use them. It's fun to watch Mob's relationship with Reigen, a con artist who uses Mob to deceive the world's espers into thinking he's a powerful psychic, grow throughout the first episodes. The heart of the show's appeal is in Mob's gradual self-discovery as his emotions overflow, all while facing off against increasingly malevolent organizations and factions in visually breathtaking combat directed by renowned studio Bones.

  1. Violet Evergarden

This Netflix anime, which follows a juvenile girl as she heals from wounds sustained while serving in her country's army, is a potent, moving trip that will have you sobbing uncontrollably by the time its limited 13-episode run is done. In the course of the series, the robotic-like Violet Evergarden learns to write letters as an Auto Memory Doll, letting go of the war's trauma and loss (as well as her presumed-dead major).

She learns about her own emotions while assisting others in expressing theirs as a scribe. Mothers and daughters grow closer via the letter of the week format, lovers discover the proper words to say, and fathers lament the death of their children. Only anime is capable of telling this kind of story: a profoundly moving character study on love, sorrow, and longing as Violet gradually become more human.

  1. Spy X Family

A popular new anime series called Spy Family will debut in April 2022. It is based on the popular manga that has been serialized on Shonen Jump+ since 2019. Wit Studio and CloverWorks produced the well-known spy-themed comedic anime adaption. The main characters of Spy Family are a fictitious family that includes psychic Anya Forger, master assassin Yor Forger, and veteran spy Loid Forger.

  1. Chainsaw Man

Last but not the least, we have the biggest thriller anime Chainsaw man. This anime should be put on your bucket list for 2022 as it is the most exciting new anime series. The dark fantasy, which was first published as a manga serialized on Weekly Shonen Jump from 2018 to 2020, has now been adapted into an anime by the hip Mappa studio. It will be available by 2022, according to the announcement. Denji, the main character, battles many devils with Public Safety Devil Hunters. Denji has the ability to turn into the Chainsaw Devil.
