Waltair Veerayya: A feast for Chiru fans

Waltair Veerayya, Megastar Chiranjeevi's new film, opened in theatres worldwide on the 13th of January 2023 after raising huge expectations with solid promotion. Let's wait and see if the film lives up to the hype.

Waltair Veerayya Synopsis

Waltair In Waltair, Veerayya (Chiranjeevi) works as a fisherman. Seethapathi (Rajendra Prasad), a police officer, approaches him and asks him to assist him in bringing back a notorious drug dealer, Solomon Caesar (Bobby Simha), from Malaysia. Veerayya and his team travel to Malaysia to kidnap Solomon. Veerayya learns about Solomon's brother, Michael Caesar (Prakash Raj). What happened after that? What is Veerayya's relationship with Michael? What is the relationship between ACP Vikram Sagar (Ravi Teja) and Veerayya? What transpired between them? 

Waltair Veerayya’s plus points

The story is familiar to our audiences, but what makes it interesting is the screenplay written by director Bobby. The director understands how fans want to see their favorite actor in a big-budget film. Bobby skillfully highlighted Chiranjeevi. Chiranjeevi nailed his look and attire, once again proving that he could mesmerize his fans and others with his exceptional comedy timing. Chiranjeevi's performance in emotional scenes is superb.

Ravi Teja is another interesting character who deserves to be recognized. He appears on the big screen for a short time but delivers his best performance. After his arrival, the second half becomes more engaging. The scenes involving Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja are entertaining and a treat for their respective fans.

Shruti Haasan is a pleasant surprise in this film. She is not only limited to being a part of songs but also allowed to perform. She looks stunning in songs and has impressive dance moves. Catherine Tresa, another heroine, performs admirably in her assigned role.

Bobby Simha defends his role as the brother of a drug lord. The rest of the cast does an excellent job, including Prakash Raj, Rajendra Prasad, and Vennela Kishore.

The action and comedy scenes are entertaining enough to keep viewers interested. It was a good idea to recreate some vintage scenes from Chiranjeevi's films, which worked well in the movie. A couple of songs, particularly Poonakalu Loading, are worth seeing on the big screen.

Waltair Veerayya’s minus plus

Director Bobby, a Chiranjeevi fan, wanted to present the actor in the role his fans wanted to see. He was successful, but to do so, he chose a familiar story with a few twists and turns. The events of the second half are easily predicted. Bobby should have paid more attention to the account. However, the clever screenplay masks the narrative's flaws.

Prakash Raj's character is monotonous. Bobby should have enlisted the help of another actor to flesh out the surface. Many of the characters in the film need to be revised. For example, casting Pradeep Rawat and Nasser in the movie is pointless. They don't have much to do in this film.

A few unnecessary scenes in the film could have been cut to improve the film's overall quality. Devi Sri Prasad's score could be better, particularly in the scenes that give fans a rush. The second half's dubbing could be better.

Waltair Veerayya’s movie’s Technical aspect

Bobby, Chiru's fanboy, elevates the film by writing clever screenplay and dialogues. He does his best to make the movie a treat for fans, and he succeeds in that regard. Arthur A Wilson's camerawork is excellent, particularly in the action sequences.

Devi Sri Prasad could have done a better job of elevating many mass scenes with an outstanding score. Niranjan Devaramane's editing is good, but some unnecessary scenes in the second half should be cut. In the second half, the dubbing could be more impressive.

Waltair Veerayya’s movie verdict

Waltair Veerayya is a competent mass entertainer with everything to appeal to Chiru fans. Chiranjeevi perfectly portrays his character, and his comedic timing is an asset to the film. It's unquestionably a feast for Chiru fans. Ravi Teja is flawless in his role, and his outstanding performance keeps the film interesting. You can enjoy the movie despite a few unnecessary scenes and a dull background score. This Sankranthi, watch it.
