Mahima Chaudhry is an Indian model and actress who has appeared in Hindi-language movies. Before pursuing a career in movies Chaudhry worked as a model and made appearances in a number of television commercials during the 1990s. In 1997's Pardes when she made her acting debut.

Mahima took home the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She began her acting career in a number of parts in movies including Daag (1999) Dhadkan (2000) Kurukshetra (2000) and Dil Hai Tumhaara (2002). She also won praise for her work in Dil Kya Kare (1999) and Lajja (2002).

The wedding of Ajay Devgn and Kajol took place on February 24 1999. At the same time there were rumours that Ajay was seeing Mahima. Mahima denied all of these rumours in an interview calling them the work of a director who was angry with her for standing up to him after her tragic car accident.

On the final day of the Dil Kya Kare filming in Bangalore Mahima suffered a facial injury in a car accident. Mahima was scheduled to make a guest appearance in another movie that also features Ajay Devgn but production on that movie had to be put on hold while she was recovering.

Mahima asked the director to avoid taking close-up pictures of her when she returned to the movie set with scars still visible on her face. Although he first agreed he kept bringing the camera up to her face while shooting. Ajay confronted the director about making her feel uncomfortable to which the director went and told everyone that Ajay Devgn was in love with Mahima. This made Mahima Chaudhry totally uncomfortable. She stood up for herself again and banished all the dating rumours.

Leander Paes (2000-2003)

Leander Paes a star tennis player met Mahima at a party. The two developed feelings for one another. Mahima would spend the majority of her time with her boyfriend and accompany him when he had matches abroad. For over three years everything between the two was perfect. 

In 2003 Leander Paes was cheating on Mahima but Mahima caught him in the act. Leander was charged with infidelity by Mahima who claimed that Rhea Pillai was to blame for their growing disagreement with one another. 

Bobby Mukherjee (2006-2013)

In 2006 Mahima met Bobby Mukherjee an architect living in Kolkata who also happened to be a very close friend of her brother. As a result they frequently ran into one other at social functions. After getting divorced Bobby was thinking about giving marriage a shot again. 

Bobby and Mahima's relationship flourished and on March 19 2006 they were married in a hotel in Las Vegas. Their nuptials were kept quiet. They later got married in Bengali style on March 23 2006. She only made headlines because the media noticed her baby belly. She was forced to disclose her private marriage to Bobby.

Two-Miscarriages

The Pardes actress Mahima Chaudhry has spoken candidly about her miscarriages and marital difficulties. Bobby Mukherjee and Mahima were wed in 2006 but they later divorced in 2013. Ariana is the name of the daughter Mahima Chaudhry and Bobby had together. 

The Pardes actress discussed her troubled marriage with her ex-husband and how she had two miscarriages when they were together in an interview. She miscarried while simultaneously carrying a second kid. She confessed the reason behind this great loss. Being unhappy during your pregnancy often results in a miscarriage she said. 

A few years later Mahima experienced another miscarriage. She used to drop her child at her mother’s place every time she had an event to attend. The Pardes actress went on to say that her hubby didn't support her during her challenging moments.

Harassed by movie director Subhash Ghai

In an interview Mahima recalled how Indian director Subhash Ghai took her to court for breaching the terms of the contract following the release of her first Hindi film Pardes (1997).

Mr Subhash Ghai bullied me she claimed. He even dragged me to court and demanded that I postpone my first performance. It was very demanding. He warned all of the producers not to collaborate with me! If you pick up a copy of Trade Guide magazine from 1998 or 1999 you'll find an advertisement that he placed requesting contact from anyone interested in working with me. Otherwise the contract would have been broken.

Later she said that only Salman Khan Sanjay Dutt David Dhawan and Rajkumar Santoshi came to her rescue at the time. However when asked about it Subhash Ghai responded that he was astonished by Mahima's statement despite having an excellent relationship with her.

Mahima Chaudhry's Hindi Debut Film- Pardes (1997)

Subhash Ghai co-wrote produced and directed the musical drama Pardes which was released in 1997 in the Hindi language. Shah Rukh Khan played the lead role and newcomers Mahima Chaudhry and Apurva Agnihotri played the female Lead Roles. Supporting actors Alok Nath Amrish Puri and Himani Shivpuri appear in the Mukta Arts-distributed film. The movie was filmed in a number of cities in India British Columbia and the United States including Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

On August 8 1997 Pardes was released in India. Critics gave it a mixed to positive reception praising the soundtrack and the acting of Khan Chaudhry and Agnihotri but criticizing the plot and writing. It became a commercial success earning over 409 million (US$5.1 million).

Daag - The Fire (1999)

Raj Kanwar's 1999 Indian action thriller Daag: The Fire which stars Sanjay Dutt Chandrachur Singh and Mahima Chaudhry in key roles was written produced and directed by Kanwar. 

Despite receiving mediocre reviews the movie was a super hit when it was finished playing in theatres. The fact that there was neither a stain nor a fire despite the title was one of the harshest objections. Raj Kanwar asserted that the title alludes to the Yin and Yang and other examples of natural dualism. However viewers didn't get it. The 1991 film Regarding Henry served as a model for the story.

Dhadkan (2000)

In 2000 the romantic drama film Dhadkan was produced and directed by Dharmesh Darshan. Starring in it are Mahima Chaudhry Shilpa Shetty Suniel Shetty and Akshay Kumar. It was based on the book Wuthering Heights and also included supporting performances from Parmeet Sethi Kiran Kumar Sushma Seth and Manjeet Kullar.

The plot goes as follows: Anjali and Dev are in love and want to get married but her family arranges for Ram to be her husband. Anjali has fallen in love with Ram by the time Dev returns to see her after a long absence. Nadeem-Shravan composed the music.

Due to various factors Dhadkan was postponed for about 4 years. It was finally published on August 11 2000 over the Fourth of July holiday and received generally favorable reviews.It became a commercial triumph making $26 billion worldwide. 

Kurukshetra (2000)

Mahesh Manjrekar wrote and directed the action drama movie Kurukshetra which came out in 2000. Sanjay Dutt Mahima Chaudhry and Om Puri play the main characters with Mukesh Rishi and Shivaji Satam playing minor roles. It was released on November 10th 2000.
