Nupur Shikhare’s Biography

Nupur Shikhare is a fitness trainer who has worked with some of the top stars of Bollywood. His impressive clientele includes Sushmita Sen and Aamir Khan. The latter is in fact his father-in-law now, as Aamir Khan’s daughter, Ira Khan and Nupur Shikhare have gotten married.

He was born on October 17, 1985 in Pune and completed his education in Mumbai. Nupur Shikhare’s zodiac sign is Libra. Before fitness, he had a career in filmmaking and worked for a while as an assistant director. Following this he got a job as a trainer in the gym he used to go to at the time. The turning point of his career was when he became trainer to Sushmita Sen.

He also represented India in the 2017 Netflix reality show ‘Ultimate Beastmaster.’ The following year he stepped into the role of a fight master in the Disney India musical, ‘Aladdin-Experience The Magic.’

Nupur Shikhare has been athletically inclined since his childhood. He excelled in tennis, becoming a national-level tennis player. In fact, he wanted to pursue a career in it but then decided to explore filmmaking.

He made a few short films and videos which helped him secure the position of an assistant director. Post-this, he began his career as a fitness trainer, after he was hired by the gym he used to workout at. He shared that at the beginning of his fitness career he used to visit upscale gyms and hand over his business cards to people there.

His first big break came when he became Sushmita Sen’s personal trainer in 2008. Since then he has become a prominent trainer of Bollywood stars. These include Aamir Khan and Rana Daggubati.

2014 saw him participate in his first triathlon, Ironman 70.3 Taiwan. He has since participated in Ironman Copenhagen 2017 and Canthon-Cancer Awareness Run in 2019, where he finished in second place.

In 2017, he participated in Netflix’s sports reality series, Ultimate Beastmaster: India, where he competed against several athletes for the winning title. 2018 saw him take on the role of action director for the Disney India TV show Aladdin. 

In 2022, he became a brand ambassador for the bicycle brand, Scott Sports India.

Ira Khan

Nupur was the trainer of Aamir Khan and then his daughter, Ira Khan. He met her during the Covid lockdown in 2020, when he started training her. They made their relationship public soon after on social media. In November 2022, they got engaged, with Nupur proposing to Ira during a triathlon.

January 2024 is when they got married. In memory of their proposal, Nupur ran 8 kilometres to the wedding venue and arrived in his running clothes, causing a lot of chatter on social media.
