Pro Kabbadi League team U Mumba
The professional kabaddi team U Mumba, which represents the Mumbai City of India, plays in the Pro Kabaddi League, an Indian professional kabaddi league. The U Mumba (MUMBAI) Kabaddi team is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and competes in the Pro Kabaddi League. The franchise is currently run by Surinder Singh (captain of the team), Anil Chaprana(the coach of the Green Army Kabbadi team) and Rajaguru Subramanian (a former member of the team) will be in charge of coaching the team.
The owner of the group is Unilazer Ventures Pvt. Ltd owned by Ronnie Screwvala. At Mumbai's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Indoor Stadium, U Mumba plays their home games.
U Mumba was one of the most powerful teams in the PKL's debut season, however, they lost the championship game and finished second to the Jaipur Pink Panthers. In 2015, they were determined to right their wrongs and successfully won the tournament after defeating Bengaluru Bulls in the Final. The following season, in 2016 (January), U Mumba lived up to the reputation of being the best team in PKL history by reaching their third straight PKL final before ultimately finishing as runners-up as they were defeated by the Patna Pirates by a narrow margin despite a valiant comeback in the second half of the final.
Prior to the June 2016 campaign, U Mumba lost several of their important players who were a part of the team that made it to three straight finals in the PKL auction. The following two seasons, 2016 (June) and 2017, both saw the squad miss the playoffs due to their inability to adapt to the adjustments.
U Mumba was able to reclaim their lost form and qualify for the playoffs after two failed efforts thanks to an innovative personnel change made by the team's owners prior to the 2018–19 season. In the process, U Mumba regained their former dominance, finishing the league stage with resounding victories and the greatest scoring differential of any team. They were eliminated from the playoffs by the UP Yoddha because of their failure to perform at their best in crucial games with small margins.
Puneri Paltan and U Mumba compete in the Maharashtra derby, and U Mumba currently has the winning rights after winning 9 of the 15 meetings between the two teams. They were eliminated by the eventual winner Bengal Warriors in the second semi-final of season 7 by a score of 35-37.
