On September 20 2018 he made his List A debut for Tamil Nadu in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. With twenty-two ejections in nine games he led Tamil Nadu in wicket-taking during the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. On November 12 2018 he made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy for the 2018–19 season. He was purchased by the Kings XI Punjab in December 2018 for 8.4 crores during the player auction for the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL).

On March 27 2019 he played his first Twenty20 match for the group. He let up 25 runs in his first over the most in the IPL for a bowler making their debut. In the 2020 IPL auction he was purchased by the Kolkata Knight Riders in advance of the 2020 Indian Premier League after being released by the Kings XI Punjab. On October 24 2020 he took his first five-wicket haul in the IPL against the Delhi Capitals in Abu Dhabi with figures of 5 wickets for 20 runs. He was the highest wicket-taker for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2021 IPL competition.
