Vedaant Madhavan is an Indian swimmer. Vedaant Madhavan took first place at the 48th Junior National Aquatics Championships in India with four gold and three silver medals. With a time of 16:01.73 for the 1500m freestyle he also set records for India. He is the son of the famous actor R. Madhavan.
Vedant Madhavan's career began in school when he participated in swimming competitions. When Vedant wanted to improve his swimming skills he joined the Goregaon Sports Club in Mumbai. There he competed against national-level swimmers like Kapil Shetty.
After that in the year 2017 swimmers joined Glenmark Aquatic Foundation Mumbai for additional training in swimming. Afterward they attended a 30-day camp in Bangalore to prepare for a swimming competition. After that Vedant participated in the 3rd SFI All India National Club Championship and then ran away.

Early in the COVID-19 outbreak the Madhavan family relocated to Dubai so that Vedaant could continue practising while India's swimming pools were closed. In 2017 Vedaant Madhavan began his professional training in the sport. In 2020 Vedaant has constantly competed in national-level competitions and has earned multiple medals including a bronze medal in the 1500-meter freestyle event at the Khelo India Youth Games 2020 in Guwahati.
However Vedaant Madhavan experienced a breakthrough in the year 2021. The teenage athlete began the year with a bronze medal in the 1500-meter freestyle event at the Latvia Open international competition and in October at the Junior National Aquatic Championships and earned seven podium finishes.
In 2022 at the Junior National Aquatics Championships Vedaant won bronze in the 100- 200- and 400-meter freestyle events as well as silver in the 800- 1500- 4100- and 4200-meter freestyle relays.
Vedaant earned a medal at the senior nationals a week later by placing third in the men's 1500- and 800-meter freestyle races. He also placed fourth in the 4x200-meter relay falling four seconds short of a podium finish.
Vedaant maintained the pace into 2022 capturing gold and silver medals in the 800 and 1500 metres of the Danish Open swimming. The latter achievement marked his first-ever top podium finish at a global competition.
Vedaant recorded a personal best time of 52.83 seconds in the men's 100-meter freestyle event at the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships 2022 in Peru.
After Winning the National Jr. Swimming Title Vedaant Madhavan is training himself for the Olympics 2026.

Since Vedaant Madhavan’s childhood he has been surrounded by Dogs hamsters and frogs. In an interview Vedaant mentioned how the stray dogs outside his school were so kind that he used to play with them.
Vedant had indicated in the interview that he had asked his parents to make a donation to an animal shelter instead of getting him presents for his birthday. He stated that he encouraged vegetarianism and that he would also encourage his friends to adopt pets.
The young boy also stated that when he grew older he wanted to construct shelters and preserve jungles. Given his efforts to promote vegetarianism and stop animal cruelty Madhavan was chosen by PeTA as Person of the Year in 2017.
