An Indian actress and dancer by the name of Waheeda Rehman is one of the most well-known actresses from earlier times in Indian cinema having won numerous honors including a National Film Award.

She is regarded as one of Hindi cinema's best actresses and has won three Filmfare Awards and the National Film Award. The Indian government awarded Waheeda the Padma Shri in 1972 and she later received the Padma Bhushan. Her entire film career has garnered substantial media attention.

Her extensive filmography showcases both her own skills and the evolving aesthetic of Indian cinema. She is well recognized for playing the characters of Nurse Radha Radha Reshma Anjana and Gulabo in Pyaasa Radha in Bees Saal Baad Rosie in Guide and Reshma in Reshma Aur Shera (Khamoshi).

Waheeda Rehman was born on February 3rd 1938 in Chingleput British India's Madras Presidency.Contrary to popular belief Rehman was really born in Tamil Nadu not Hyderabad. Her horoscope indicates that she is an Aquarius. 

Education

Waheeda’s father was assigned to Visakhapatnam as part of the then-Madras Presidency she attended St. Joseph's Convent to complete her studies. She and her sisters had Bharatanatyam instruction in Chennai when they were little. In her early teens her father passed away in 1951.

Waheeda had aspirations of becoming a doctor but she gave up on that dream due to her family's difficult emotional and financial situation as well as her mother's illness. She agreed to movie offers that came as a result of her dancing skills in order to support her family. She made her theatrical debut as a dancer at the Ganjam Kala Parishad in Brahmapur which was put on by her uncle Dr. Ferose Ali a well-known physician and social activist in the city.

Waheeda Rehman was born into a Deccani Muslim household. She was the youngest of 4 girls; her parents were Mumtaz Begum and Mohammed Abdur Rehman. One of Waheeda Rehman's sisters is Sayeeda Rehma the eldest one and the other two are Zahida Rehman and Shahida Rehman Malik.

Relationship

Guru Dutt allegedly dated Waheeda. Guru was unable to envision any of his movies without Waheeda. In 1963 he eventually left Waheeda nonetheless in order to save his home.

On October 10 1964 Guru Dutt took his own life. Many people blamed Waheeda for his death even though the cause of it could not be determined. Waheeda's career was devastated after Guru Dutt's passing because she began receiving relatively few films.

Rehman made her acting debut in the Telugu film Rojulu Marayi(1955) and she gained notoriety via her work with director Guru Dutt on the romantic dramas Pyaasa (1957) and Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959) the Muslim social picture Chaudhvin Ka Chand (1960) and the romantic drama Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam (1960). (1962). With the romantic drama Guide (1965) for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress Rehman made her debut. In addition to earning nominations for her performances in the comedies Ram Aur Shyam (1967) and Khamoshi (1968) she won the prize once more for her work in the romantic thriller Neel Kamal (1969).

Rehman continued to perform at her best when coupled with other well-known superstars like Rajendra Kumar Raj Kapoor Dilip Kumar and Rajesh Khanna. Teesri Kasam (1966) which received the National Film Award for Best Feature Film Ram Aur Shyam (1967) Neel Kamal (1968) and Khamoshi (1968) are some of her most well-regarded films from the late 1960s (1969). 

Rehman received consecutive nominations for the last three movies' Best Actress categories with Neel Kamal taking home the prize in each case. Pyassa a Bollywood Drama classic movie is directed and produced by Guru Dutt who stars alongside Mala Sinha Waheeda Rehman Rehman and Johnny Walker.It is based in Calcutta and centers on the disillusioned Urdu poet Vijay (Dutt) whose writings are disparaged for addressing societal themes rather than romantic ones by publishers. 

The movie chronicles his interactions with the kind-hearted prostitute Gulabo (Waheeda Rehman) and his ex-girlfriend Meena (Sinha) including how the former assists him in getting his poems published the popularity of his writings and his romantic relationship with Gulabo.The movie afterward went on to become one of the most profitable ones of the year.

Kaagaz Ke Phool

Kaagaz Ke Phool is one of Bollywood’s revolutionary Hindi romantics.
