800 is an upcoming biopic based on the legendary Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan. starring Oscar award winning film-Slumdog millionaire star Madhurr Mittal in association with MS Sripathy as the director and Vivek Rangachari as a producer.
‘800’ aims to shed light on the unsaid story of the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame member Muttiah Muralitharan.
The official trailer of the biographical movie was recently unveiled by Sachin Tendulkar. The trailer has already created waves among the audiences eagerly anticipating the biopic. The film will have a pan India release in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.
The release of the biopic is on 6th October 2023 only in theaters.
The trailer showcased focus on the legendary Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan’s unknown story. The trailer starts with flashback of riots in Sri Lanka during the 1970’s against tamils, between tamils in Jaffna and police turning into a riot where we can see glimpses of young tamil boy while he voice over saying “for someone who hails from a group of immigrant labourers getting recognized as a citizen itself is very tough” while visuals of a young man in a white jersey kneeling in front of an army personnel, but ends calling himself a proud cricketer.
The film also highlights one of the most difficult phases of the cricketer’s life- the ‘illegal bowling action’ controversy that broke out after umpires Darrell Hair and Ross Emerson, respectively, no-balled Murali seven times each during Sri Lanka's ODI match against the West Indies in 1996 and on Boxing Day 1995, respectively.

The biographical film is set to make a theatrical launch on 6th October 2023.
