Kanguva - A Mighty Valiant Saga is a forthcoming Tamil-language period action-drama film directed by Siva and scripted by Adi Narayana. K. E. Gnanavel Raja, V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy, and Pramod Uppalapati are in charge of producing it under the Studio Green and UV Creations banners. Suriya plays five roles in the film, while Disha Patani (in her Tamil debut), Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, Ravi Raghavendra, K. S. Ravikumar, and B. S. Avinash round out the ensemble cast.
Suriya 39 was the working title for the film when it was initially announced in April 2019. It was the great actor's 39th starring role in his long career. Despite the fact that pre-production for the project began in January 2021, it had to be put on hold for a while due to things not going as planned. The film was reannounced in August 2023 with the tentative title Suriya 42, making it Suriya's 42nd film in the main role. In August 2023, the official title of the film, Kanguva, was revealed.
The story unfolds at an intriguing past-present intersection. We first encounter the stalwart warrior against the intricately detailed backdrop of 1678. He dies of an unknown disease, leaving a legacy of valor and a medical mystery. A curious young woman embarks on an intriguing quest after hearing this warrior's story. She investigates the rare disease that killed the warrior using contemporary science and her determination. Her curiosity and personal connection to the warrior and his untimely death inspire her research. She unravels medical intrigue and unlocks a centuries-old medical enigma as she researches. This fascinating story tackles resolve, discovery, and fate in a timeless intersection where the past powerfully affects the present. Our protagonist races against time to bridge the past and the future, seeking answers, truth, and illumination.
Release
Kanguva is scheduled for release in 2D and 3D formats at the beginning of 2024. The film will be distributed in ten different languages, including Tamil.The digital rights to Kanguva in South India were acquired by Amazon Prime Video.
