Oke Oka Jeevitham is an Indian science fiction melodrama film produced by Dream Warrior Pictures and written and directed by Shree Karthick in his debut year of 2022. The movie is simultaneously shot in Tamil (Kanam, which translates to "Moment") and Telugu. Sharwanand, Amala Akkineni, and Ritu Varma are the stars in it. In the Telugu version, Vennela Kishore, Priyadarshi, and Nassar have supporting roles; in the Tamil version, Sathish and Ramesh Thilak take their place. Production on the movie started in August 2019, with the majority of the scenes being shot in Chennai and Hyderabad. The COVID-19 pandemic caused an 8-month delay in production, which was finally over in November 2020.
The movie opened in theatres on September 9, 2022. It received favorable reviews from reviewers and did well at the box office as well.
In the year 2019, three friends named Adhi, Chaitu, and Seenu are living lives fraught with disappointment. Aspiring musician Adhi faces career failure due to stage fright; Chaitu struggles to find a suitable bride, and Seenu rues his lack of focus during his school days. The trio's life takes an unexpected turn when they meet Paul, a scientist looking for a house to rent on the outskirts. A curious Adhi discovers boxes labelled '28-03-1998', a date from their past that has significant emotional anchors. Intrigued, the friends willingly embrace the opportunity to travel back in time to alter the course of their lives. In the aftermath of their failed attempts, the friends find peace in accepting their past. They realise that trying to alter their past is futile. Relishing the rare chance to revisit their younger days and witnessing their past selves' journeys firsthand, Adhi, Chaitu, and Seenu gain a newfound appreciation for their lives. They start a new chapter of their lives in 2019 with new insight and wisdom, underscoring the idea that one's actions in the present determine their future rather than their past.
Release
The film, which had been greatly anticipated by audiences, was officially released on September 9, 2022 following a substantial delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Initial public announcements in November 2021 had aimed for a release in February 2022. Unfortunately, the emergence and subsequent surge in Omicron cases necessitated a postponement. Despite the setbacks, the film has been awarded a U certificate, indicating its suitability for audiences of all ages. In a noteworthy business acquisition, SonyLIV successfully procured digital streaming rights for the film. Consequently, audiences were able to enjoy the film on the SonyLIV platform from October 20, 2022, onward.
Reviews
The film "Oke Oka Jeevitham" and its Tamil version "Kanam", received commendations from critics. The Times of India, reviewing the Telugu version, appreciated the narrative, rating it 3.5 out of 5 stars, and noted that the first half of the film was particularly engaging, albeit with scope for improvement in the second half. The Times of India gave the Tamil version the same rating while praising the filmmaker for emphasizing the emotional connection between a mother and her son. Priyanka Sundar from Firstpost echoed this sentiment, stating that the film presented a beautiful tale about healing from grief. On the other hand, Janani K from India Today, Arvind V from Pinkvilla, and Sakshi Post, while rating it 3 stars, appreciated its nostalgic touch and thematic depth but also noted that it could be seen as a "bumpy ride". Balakrishna Ganeshan from The News Minute rated the film 2.5 stars and appreciated its departure from traditional time-travel narratives, favoring an emphasis on human emotions. Bhuvanesh Chandar from The Hindu hailed it as a compelling debut by director Shree Karthick and an endearing tribute to his late mother. A critic from Behindwoods gave the film 3 stars, praising its solid performances and simple writing. The overall consensus was one of positive reception, lauding the narrative, performances, and thematic richness of the film.

Sharwanand as Adhi

Behind the scenes
The filming locations were Hyderabad and Chennai. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, shooting was suspended in March of 2021. After eight months, filming resumed with the final schedule taking place in Chennai and concluding in November 2020.
Box Office Collection
The 9th of September saw the theatrical release of Sharawanand's Oke Oka Jeevitham, which debuted to weak box office receipts. Despite effective advertising and special screenings, the film's opening day performance was underwhelming. However, the film experienced a significant increase on Days 2 and 3, registering respectable weekend numbers. The increase in ticket sales was a result of the audience's positive word of mouth. Oke Oka Jeevitham proved that audiences will attend theatres if the content is engaging. After a solid opening weekend, the film continued to perform well during the week.
