Plot 

The film follows the story of a struggling writer Gautham (played by Vijay Deverakonda), who is trying to make a name for himself in the literary world. Despite his efforts, he finds himself stuck in a creative rut and is unable to produce any good work. His girlfriend Yamini (played by Raashi Khanna), who is a government employee, is supportive of him and encourages him to keep writing. The film explores the complexities of love and relationships, and how they can often be messy and unpredictable. It also delves into the themes of creativity, ambition, and the pursuit of happiness.

Release

On Valentine's Day 2020, the film was released. In addition to Telugu, the film was released in Malayalam and Tamil. Goldmines Telefilms later dubbed and released the film in Hindi and Bengali on 30 January 2021 and 31 July 2021, respectively. The Hindi dubbed version debuted on Sony Max, while the Bengali dubbed version debuted on Jalsha Movies. Both dubbed versions can be found on YouTube.

Reviews

Critics gave the film negative reviews. Writing for Times of India, Suhas Yellapantula gave 2 out of 5 stars and wrote that "World Famous Lover comes across as a caustic rant of a disgruntled writer who subjects the audience to two hours and 36 minutes of his tears and frustration. Vijay Deverakonda yells, cries, punches mirrors, bangs his head against rocks, speaks Telangana dialect, and jumps out of planes, but he remains a helpless spectator as Kranthi Madhav wears the audience down with his depressing love story. With a powerful performance, Aishwarya Rajesh stands out among the women.

Janani K of India Today gave it a rating of 2 out of 5 and stated that "World Famous Lover, directed by Kranthi Madhav, aims to be an emotional love story about compromise and sacrifice. Unfortunately, there isn't enough substance in the film to keep it going for two and a half hours."

Character Analysis

Gautham is a struggling writer who dreams of becoming a successful author one day. He lives with his girlfriend Yamini, who works as a school teacher, in a small apartment in Hyderabad. Despite being in a long-term relationship, Gautham feels disconnected from Yamini and struggles to find inspiration for his writing. He spends most of his time brooding and drinking, which causes tension in their relationship. Throughout the film, Gautham undergoes a transformative journey as he comes to terms with his own desires and motivations. He learns to confront his own fears and insecurities and begins to prioritize his own happiness. His relationship with Yamini ultimately ends, but he is able to find a new sense of purpose and direction in his life.

Yamini is introduced as a pragmatic and level-headed woman who is unimpressed by Gautham's attempts to woo her. She is focused on her career as a flight attendant and is not easily swayed by romantic gestures. However, as she spends more time with Gautham, she begins to see a sensitive and vulnerable side to him that she finds endearing. At the beginning of the movie, Suvarna's character is portrayed as a devoted wife who is trying her best to make her husband happy. She is shown to be a caring and nurturing person who is always there to support her husband, even if it means sacrificing her own happiness. However, as the story progresses, we learn that Suvarna's outwardly content demeanor masks a deep sense of dissatisfaction and unhappiness. In the end, Suvarna chooses to stay with her husband and work on their marriage. She realizes that true love and emotional fulfillment cannot be found in someone else but must be cultivated within oneself and in one's relationships.

Iza is a free-spirited woman who enjoys living in the moment. She is independent and does not like to be tied down by rules or societal norms. She is comfortable in her own skin and does not feel the need to conform to anyone's expectations. Iza's carefree nature is evident in the way she speaks and behaves, which is in sharp contrast to Gautham's reserved and introverted personality.

A major part of the movie was shot in France, and the entire cast and crew had a great time filming in the picturesque locations. Vijay and Raashi Khanna's scenes were shot in Paris, and the entire crew had a wonderful time exploring the city during their free time. Izabelle Leite, who played the role of Iza in the movie, had to learn Telugu for her part. She found it challenging initially, but she eventually got the hang of it with the help of the crew and her co-stars.

Controversy

Raashi Khanna has denied ever regretting doing any film, putting an end to false rumours. After Vijay Deverakonda's World Famous Lover bombed at the box office, rumours circulated that Raashi regretted working on the film.
