Ronit Roy's transformation: Ronit Roy underwent a physical transformation for the role of K.D. Pathak, losing weight and changing his hairstyle to better fit the character. He also practiced his dialogue delivery and body language extensively to portray the character convincingly.
Plagiarism allegations: In 2012, it was revealed that a writer by the name of Vishwanath Tiwari had accused the producers of the show "Adaalat" of using his script as the basis for one episode. The show's production company, Contiloe Entertainment, allegedly received a script from Tiwari, and used portions of it without his consent. Contiloe refuted the charges.
Criticism of portrayal of mental illness: In one episode of "Adaalat," a character with schizophrenia is portrayed in a way that some mental health advocates found stigmatizing and inaccurate.
