Extrapolations is an anthology series that displays the effects of climate change on the earth from a variety of different points of view through the use of interwoven stories. These stories are presented by a variety of writers, and each episode features a unique cast of actors.

Release

On March 17, 2023, the first three episodes of this show were made available on Apple TV+. The fourth episode was released on 24 March.

The fifth episode featuring Adarsh Gourav as Gaurav was released on March 31st. Later, episodes 6 and 7 were released on April 7 and 14, respectively. The final episode of the season was released on April 21.

• 2037: A Raven Story

When it comes to the consequences of climate change, the entire planet has reached a tipping point. A choice regarding whether or not to limit the annual rise in global temperature to less than two degrees Celsius per year is influenced by politics, public demonstrations, and the activities of private businesses.

• 2046: Whale Fall

In the year 2046, technology enables Rebecca to talk with and make friends with a humpback whale. The whale is curious about the location of another whale that can be heard. Rebecca is able to answer the whale's questions.

• 2047: The Fifth Question

Rabbi Zucker must contend with a number of obstacles, including the maintenance of his Miami church, the education of an interested new little girl in preparation for her bat mitzvah, and the preparation of the community for an approaching storm.

• 2059: Face of God

Gita Mishra has a fleet of planes laden with calcium chloride flying in the skies while she threatens to drop their cargo as a way to find a solution to the climate crisis that the globe is currently experiencing in one form or another. While he is counselling the President of the United States during this crisis, her ex-husband Jonathan watches in horror as he sees his own son actively collaborating with Gita's plan,

• 2059 Part II: Nightbirds

Neel and Gaurav are going on a possibly deadly assignment in Mumbai, which involves transporting a secret artefact that has the ability to save the world. The assassin Olivia Drew has been tasked with the goal of stopping them.

• 2066: Lola

Ezra, who was last seen in episode 2, is now an adult who makes a profession by impersonating personalities for people who are going through challenging times and getting paid for it online. The current climate circumstances across the world add another layer of complexity to the situation, which already included Ezra having to cope with his own problems concerning Lola.

• 2068: The Going Away Party

Anna gets a job as a maid for an intimate New Year's Eve party that will be thrown by the couple August and Sylvie. Their close friend Nicolas and his date, Elodie, will be at the party. Anna will be working for August and Sylvie. The evening turns out to be an event worth remembering, with the focus being on lowering one's carbon footprint as a means of resolving the present climate issue.

• 2070: Ecocide

Nick Bilton is brought before the International Criminal Court in The Hague to answer for his activities as CEO of Alpha on the allegation of ecocide. The globe as a whole is shocked by his gift because it is a means to affect the outcome.

Behind the Scenes

By October 2021, production on the series had officially started in New York City under the working title Gaia. Burns was serving in the capacities of both writer and director for the project.
