Goddess Chandraghanta, one of the forms of Mother Durga, is believed to have the power to bring justice and discipline to the world. She is named after the half-Chandra (moon) that adorns her brow, as it resembles the shape of a bell. Maa Parvati, in her married form, is worshipped as Maa Chandraghanta. According to Hindu mythology, after marrying Lord Shiva, Goddess Durga started adorning the half Chandra.

Maa Chandraghanta is depicted with eight arms, with four left arms holding Trishul, Gada, Sword, and Kamdal (a type of battleaxe), while the four right arms hold the lotus flower, Arrow, Dhanush (bow), and Japa Mala (prayer beads). Her fifth hand is held in the Abhaya mudra, which symbolizes protection and auspiciousness, while her fifth right hand is in the Varada mudra, which signifies blessing and charity.
