Oscars 2023 updates: In unquestionably India's best year at the Oscars, Guneet Monga's The Elephant Whisperers wins Best Documentary Short. RRR's Naatu Naatu wins Best Original Song.

India, it's time to go "Naatu Naatu"! By becoming the first Indian feature film to win an Oscar, SS Rajamouli's RRR made history. The music to the movie, "Naatu Naatu," by MM Keeravani, won the Best Original Song Award at the 95th Academy Awards, which are now taking place in Los Angeles, California.

'Applause' from Tell It Like a Woman, 'Hold My Hand' from Top Gun: Maverick, 'Lift Me Up' from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and 'This is Life' from Everything Everywhere All At Once were the songs competed against.

According to sources, the song "Naatu Naatu" from the Telugu-language film RRR won Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards in 2023, making it the first Indian film song to win an Oscar. The composer of the song, M.M. Keeravaani, accepted the award and performed the song on stage. The song beat out other heavy hitters in the category, including Lady Gaga and Rihanna. The song is described as a joyously energetic anthem and is a part of the blockbuster film RRR.

The honour was accepted by lyricist Chandrabose and composer Keeravani. Keeravani gave his acceptance speech in the form of a Carpenters song that had been modified.

"I listened to The Carpenters while growing up, and here I am at the Oscars. I just had one wish, and Rajamouli and our families also had one. 'RRR' must triumph... To the tune of The Carpenters' 1970 song Top of the Globe, Keeravani said, "Pride of every Indian... must place me on top of the world.

Chandrabose, meanwhile, merely said, "Namaste!"

Naatu Naatu becomes the first song from an Indian film to win an Oscar due to the victory. Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, who sing "Naatu Naatu," delivered an outstanding performance at the Oscar ceremony earlier today, and the audience couldn't get enough of the song. They received a standing ovation for the performance.

Notably, "Naatu Naatu" received the Golden Globe for the best song earlier this month. RRR became the first Indian film to win a Golden Globe due to the victory. The song's words were written by Chandrabose, with music by MM Keeravaani, and Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj performed it.

RRR tells a fictional story in the 1920s while drawing influence from the lives of independence heroes Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju. The movie has a large ensemble cast, including Ray Stevenson, Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakani, and Alia Bhatt.

It should be mentioned that the 2008 British film Slumdog Millionaire's song "Jai Ho," written by Gulzar and composed by AR Rahman, became the first Hindi song to win an Oscar Award for Best Original Song and Best Original Score.
