Rahul Deshpande, the torchbearer of the legendary Deshpande dynasty, has carried the legacy forward with his outstanding talent, establishing himself as a proficient vocalist and music composer. He is known for his work as a playback singer in the movies like Balgandharva, Katyar Kaljat Ghusali, Me Vasantrao, and Amaltash.

He continued his studies with Smt. Ushatai Chipalkatti and Pandit Mukul Shivputra. Suresh Samant also taught him how to play the tabla.

Rahul's grandfather, the great Pt. Vasantrao Deshpande, was a legendary vocalist, renowned for his contribution to Natya Sangeet. He played classical and semi-classical music. Rahul is married to Neha Deshpande. They got married on 22 November and have been together for more than 14 years. The couple has a beautiful daughter named Renuka Deshpande who amongst all the things also enjoys singing.

Career

Rahul knows khayal, tap khayal, dhruvpad, thumri, kajri, hori, tappa, ghazal, abhanga, bhajan, natyasangeet, and bhavgeet. Rahul has judged Zee Marathi's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa - Little Champs and Zee Yuva's Sangeet Samrat Parva2. His contribution to the re-opening of the musical production Katyar Kaljat Ghusali was recognized. He sang the songs for Sachin Pilgaonkar's character Khansaheb Aftab Hussain Bareliwale in the film. Rahul himself played the character in the drama Katyar Kaljat Ghusali. Every year, he organizes the Vasantotsav in commemoration of his late grandpa, Pandit Vasantrao Deshpande. A reworked version of Kakasaheb Khadilkar's Sangeet Maanapmaan was performed throughout Maharashtra in 2011 and 2012, the centenary year of the play's initial performance. Rahul Deshpande has changed it. Originally, the show was divided into five parts and featured 52 classical songs. Deshpande's rendition will feature two parts and 22 classical songs.
