On the island of Mandwa, 12-year-old Vijay resides with his mother and his esteemed schoolmaster father. When Kancha Cheena shows up, he offers to lease the villagers' property in exchange for the proceeds of a fictitious salt business. In truth, Kancha wants to seize control of the island and use it to produce cocaine. The villagers are cautioned by Vijay's father to avoid Kancha. Kancha accuses him of a crime as vengeance, leading to the schoolmaster being hanged by the townspeople. Vijay leaves the island with his expectant mother. Vijay gets taken under the wing of Mumbai's criminal boss Rauf Lala. After fifteen years, Vijay is prepared to exact retribution by going back to Mandwa.
