Mahesh Manjrekar is the director and Salman Khan Films is the producer of Antim, an action movie in Hindi that released in 2021. Salman Khan, Aayush Sharma, Mahima Makwana, and Jisshu Sengupta play the key characters in this adaptation of Marathi movie Mulshi Pattern. Like the original, the story centres on a confrontation between a Sikh policeman and a mobster and examines how farmers' difficult living conditions lead some of them to commit crimes.
The story follows the life of a typical farmer who is compelled to sell his farm and serve as a field labourer on his own property. One of these tales centres on Rahul "Rahulya" Patil. His father, Dattaram, sold his land as well and now resides on his own property working as a watchman. Rahulya dares that Dattaram will have his land back one day after the landlord, Shinde, beats him up. His family soon relocates to Pune, where the father and son team both work as porters at a vegetable market. Rahulya beats up the neighbourhood thugs when they forcefully demand money from an elderly man and he ends up in jail. There, he encounters Nanya, a notorious gang leader who enjoys the support of the local MLA.
After inadvertently killing the mayor, Rahulya quickly becomes well-known, and Nanya bails him out once more by faking the death as a suicide and using fictitious witness statements. With his newfound reputation, Rahulya decides to help the vegetable vendors by pledging to pay prices higher than those being charged at the moment. Dattaram rejects him even if the vendors like him. Rahulya quickly rises to prominence in Nanya's group.
When Rahulya's masterji's land was not annexed, Pitya and Daya complained to Nanya about it. Rahulya kills Masterji in front of his family to settle a personal score and acquire the land. Nanya saves him by identifying the murderer as masterji's uncle. Rahulya's family absolutely rejects him, and they force him to leave his house. Rahul makes Manda nervous, but she still thinks he is innocent. Rahulya attends Nanya's birthday celebration one day, but in an unexpected turn, that evening, Rahulya murders him because he thinks his mother and sister are sexually assaulted by him. After an aggressive altercation, SI Rajveer Singh arrests Rahulya for the crime. He is released on bond after a number of months.
Now that Rahulya is the town's gang leader, everyone dreads him. A pre-teen boy named Siddharth, also known as Sidhu, asks Rahulya for assistance one night, and Rahulya takes him in as a brother. Rajveer, who feels bad for Rahulya's family, keeps cautioning Rahulya about the serious repercussions of taking the law into his own hands, but to no avail. Realizing that just one will be left after each gang killed the other's, Rajveer now makes the decision to let the criminals select their own fate. By assassinating members of both gangs secretly, he exacerbates the conflict between the two groups even more.
Despite being wealthy, Rahulya feels empty. Dattaram hates him as he makes his way to the marketplace. Rahulya gets yelled at by Manda's father Satya, who also threatens to wed off his daughter to Rahulya. Rahulya slaps him out of rage. Rahulya is then struck by Manda, who ends their relationship. Rahulya develops into an even more hated gangster as he begins to engage in extortion, seizes the property of numerous individuals, turns his attention to Dattaram's property, and murders Shinde to exact revenge. Rahulya is overjoyed when she tells Dattaram the good news, but Dattaram isn't as delighted as normal due to Rahulya's forceful tactics. He encounters a contented family during one of the land settlements, and the father is pleased with his sons' accomplishments. Rahulya changes his mind after learning this.
As he enters the marketplace again, he runs into Dattaram and tells him that he is going to join politics. Dattaram screams that he had numerous opportunities to change his actions but he didn't. As Rahulya prepares to depart, the local MLA learns that Rahulya has decided to enter politics and instructs Pitya and Daya to kill Rahulya. On the day of Vinayaka Chaturthi, Rajveer murders the MLA in an encounter, and the two pursue Rahulya on the streets of Pune with the intention of killing him. Rahulya instantly calls Sidhu to alert him of the events and requests that he inform everyone. Rahulya and Sidhu arrive at the market. Dattaram also phones Rajveer in the meantime, updates him on the events, and then makes his way to the market.
Rahulya now emerges from hiding, and the two of them face Daya and Pitya. Rahulya turns himself in to the police as the two are apprehended. Rahulya is killed when Sidhu pulls his weapon and shoots him He admits that he is masterji's grandchild and that he made a vow to kill Rahulya in the market to exact revenge for his grandfather's passing to his dying mother. Rajveer then runs into Pitya-Daya and kills them. Everyone sobs as Rahulya's body is set to be cremated, and Dattaram breaks out into a fit of laughter as he recalled Rahulya's advice to grin at least once. Even though Rahulya owned 300 acres, Rajveer believes that he only needed 6 feet of ground as he departs.
Anitm was applauded by the critics for its direction, storytelling and acting performance of both Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma. Although it did not fare well at the box office, earning only INR 60 crores against a budget of INR 48 crores, it was one of the highest-grossing Bollywood movies of 2021 because of the COVID 19 pandemic.
