A 2022 science fiction action film in the Hindi language, Attack: Part 1 is directed by Lakshya Raj Anand and written by Vishal Kapoor, Sumit Batheja, and John Abraham. John Abraham also stars in the movie alongside Jacqueline Fernandez, Rakul Preet Singh, Prakash Raj, and Ratna Pathak Shah in supporting roles.
Attack premiered in theatres on April 1, 2022. The movie garnered conflicting reviews from critics, some of whom appreciated the action scenes and others of whom criticised the narrative; as a result, the movie bombed at the box office.
Arjun Shergill, an officer in the Indian Army, sets out on a mission to apprehend Rehman Gul, a notorious terrorist who attacked an army convoy two days prior. Arjun manages to capture Rehman during a difficult confrontation with militants while also sparing a suicide bomber, Hamid Gul, who is actually Rehman's son.
Ayesha, an air hostess, and Arjun fall in love while Arjun is departing for his hometown at the Mumbai Airport after 12 years.
Their joy, however, is fleeting since Hamid's men attack the airport, killing several people, including Ayesha. Arjun is hurt during the struggle, but he recovers after two weeks and is now chained to a wheelchair with only his neck moving. In order to prevent collateral damage during times of war, Vadraj Kumar Subramaniam/V. K. Subramaniam, the Chief of Indian Intelligence and Arjun's superior officer, suggests to the PM creating a supersoldier programme that is run by AI.
Scientist Sabah Qureshi with the DRDO has been modifying the programme for the supersoldiers for the past seven years and is about to make a significant advancement.
The idea is accepted by the PM, but Sabah emphasises that the programme was created for people who are paralysed. Arjun is chosen for the programme by Subramaniam. Arjun unwillingly consents to the plan because he wants to get revenge for Ayesha's passing. Arjun's prospects of surviving the surgery are stated to be very slim, but he makes it through the on-boarding procedure. Under the direction of the Intelligence Robotic Assistant, or I.R.A., Arjun controls himself, but the I.R.A. is limited as a result of Arjun's injuries.
The administration learns that Hamid is purchasing chemical weapons in Eastern Europe in the meantime. The following day, as instructed by Subramaniam, Sabah shows up to the Parliament to give the Defence Minister an update on Arjun's progress. Arjun notifies Subramaniam, who is at the Sansad Marg, that he has learned from I.R.A. that Hamid intends to attack the Parliament.
The Parliament Ministry and other Union ministries, including the PM and Sabah, as well as Hamid and his fellow terrorists who were posing as RAF troops, were captured. The Parliament was also hijacked.
Arjun and the NSG commandos depart for the Parliament, but Hamid contacts the administration, who requests that the NSG leave the building in exchange for the release of 50 hostages. Subramabiam pushes for a partial evacuation from the Parliament and sends Arjun to brief people about the events there together with Home Minister Digvijay Saab (who has been named Caretaker Prime Minister). With the aid of the I.R.A., Arjun sneaks into the Parliament, where he kills four to five guards before storming into the control room and giving Subramaniam a live stream.
Rehman's release is demanded by Hamid. When Sabah asks Arjun for assistance, Hussain captures her, but Arjun saves her by murdering Hussain and other terrorists, allowing the two to flee. This causes Hamid to believe that someone else has arrived, and he gives the order to find the other person. Hamid and Arjun communicate using a walkie-talkie before Hamid coerces Digvijay, Subramaniam, and others into forcing Arjun to submit. Arjun is instructed by Subramaniam to give up, which he chooses to do in order to murder Hamid and free the captives. When Arjun gives up and is taken to Hamid, one of Hamid's men punches Arjun in the neck, causing an I.R.A. malfunction.
Hamid requests a safe flight on a plane that departs for Ecuador and releases the hostages but detonates a sarin gas bomb inside the Parliament in order to escape. Rehman is brought to the airport after being freed from jail.
In the meantime, Sabah gets her laptop out of her bag and starts I.R.A. again. Arjun launches an attack and dispatches all the terrorists when the I.R.A is revived. While using an ancient tunnel in the Parliament to escape, Arjun informs Subramaniam of the device and requests that he stop Hamid before he can depart for the airport in an ambulance.
While pursuing Hamid till he reaches the airport and manages to crash the jet, Arjun orders Sabah to flee with the captives. Hamid is killed by Arjun, who also disables the bomb. Rehman is killed by the NSG Commandos by throwing him out of the plane mid-flight while Sabah frees the hostages. Arjun departs the parliament on an ambulance after receiving praise from Subramaniam and the ministers. Arjun is later given another assignment, which alludes to the Attack: Part 2 sequel.
