Details

The cast of Brahamastra is outstanding, and the performances are lively and energetic. The film is 2 hours and 47 minutes long, and while the plot is simple and straightforward, its application of the director's idea is powerful and ultimately satisfying.

The movie is visually stunning with its impressive special effects. You should definitely catch it in theatres for a truly delightful visual treat. While it may no longer be showing in theatres, it's definitely worth checking out on streaming platforms. You can watch Bramhastra: Part One - Shiva on Hotstar!

Story

A DJ named Shiva discovers his odd relationship with fire. He also has the ability to awaken the Brahmstra, a mythical weapon thought to be capable of destroying the universe, all of creation, and all living things. In addition, Junoon, the ruler of evil forces, is also attempting to find the Brahmastra. The heart of the story revolves around how Shiva tries and defeat Junoon's plans and uncovers the truth about the Brahmastra.

The film also features Shah Rukh Khan at the beginning, playing the role of a doctor called Mohan Bhargav, who is the protector of the Vanar Astra (Monkey Powers).

The first part, ‘Shiva’, of this three-part trilogy movie series, is dedicated to the introduction of what Brahmastra and Astras are all about.

The movie's plot may be cliche, but it's relatable and allows viewers to enjoy the visuals while following a familiar and comforting path, like teaching your child nursery rhymes. Creating a superhero is no easy task, but Ayan Mukerji managed to do just that in the first book of the trilogy.

The beginning feels a bit slow as the emotional moments take their time to unfold, but there are still many things to appreciate. The weakest part of the plot is probably the relationship between Shiva and Isha, which really doesn't fit in well.

But thanks to a combination of dramatic in-camera images and special effects, Ayan Mukerji gives us a fantastic interval and the film moves forward rapidly in the second half before offering us one of the most beautifully shot climaxes.

You're captured by the thrilling movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the surprising ending. The VFX team deserves tonnes of praise. The VFX work, in conclusion, is absolutely top-notch, setting a new standard for Indian films.

Review

Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva is an ambitious attempt to go beyond the typical conventions of Indian cinema. Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Shah Rukh Khan are among the cast of Bramhastra. Each actor shines in their own way, delivering outstanding performances that truly carry the film.

Brahmāstra is a treat for the eyes, with its stunning special effects, beautiful cinematography, and detailed set designs. This movie is truly unique because of its amazing visual storytelling.

The protagonist, Shiva, depicted by Ranbir Kapoor, grows emotionally and personally throughout the narrative, disclosing his pyrokinetic powers and the secret of his lineage. The film significantly explores Hindu mythology through a lens that converges the past, present, and future, maintaining consistent suspense and a robust pace that holds attention captive.

However, the story sometimes has too much explanation and could use quicker work. Although the script has some flaws, the movie makes up for it with breathtaking visuals, exciting action scenes, and an uplifting soundtrack.

The film's production journey is definitely worth a mention. Despite facing numerous delays, the team's determination resulted in a final product that was well worth the wait.

Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva isn't flawless, but it's a sincere attempt to push the boundaries of Indian cinema. It gets people excited about its sequels, and it could play a big part in expanding Indian movies.

Sequel

Brahmāstra: Part One - Shiva is the exciting beginning of a trilogy called Astraverse. The film's sequel, Brahmāstra: Part Two - Dev, was revealed after the first film's ending. It will come out in December 2026.The release date for Brahmastra: Part 3 has been set for December 2027. Production on both sequels will begin at the same time.

Ayan Mukerji also mentioned that they were thinking about making a spin-off movie centred on Shah Rukh Khan's character, Mohan Bhargav. This film would tell the story of how he learned to use Vanarastra.
