Bulbbul Plot

The story opens in a region in Bengal Presidency in the nineteenth century. When Bulbbul is just five years old, she is married off to Indranil, the Bado Thakur. The youngest brother of Indranil, Satya, is closer in age to her and gets along well. Together, Bulbbul and Satya play and share tales about a demonic woman as they grow older. Mahendra, the mentally handicapped twin of Indranil, makes an odd appeal to Bulbbul.

Twenty years after leaving London, Satya comes back. Mahendra was killed in the interim in what was thought to be a chudail's attack. Binodini, his widow, now resides in an outhouse. Bulbbul has taken over Indranil's duties since he departed the community. What follows is a series of mysteries and murders that makes this a perfect watch.
