Chanakya discovers Chandragupta (also known as Chandra), a slave who is actually the crown prince of Piplivan, a country that Dhana Nanda destroyed, and recognizes in him the potential to govern. 

In the meantime, Dhana Nanda, who is unaware of Chandra's ancestry, also recognizes his talent and names him as Durdhara's bodyguard. Durdhara gradually begins to like Chandragupta.
