CID Overview

CID is an Indian Hindi-language police procedural television series for Sony Entertainment Television India. It is one of the longest-running Indian shows of all time, airing 1547 episodes in the process.

CID Channel and Timings

CID aired on Sony TV from 27 January 1998 to 27 October 2018. CID used to air every weekend on Sony TV at 10 p.m. Episodes 1 to 405 had a runtime of approx. 20 minutes and episode 406 onwards, the runtime increased to approx—40 minutes for each episode. CID is still available to watch on television on Sony PAL and online on Sony LIV.

The cast of CID includes Shivaji Satam, Adhitya Srivastava, Dayanand Shetty, and Dinesh Phadnis. ACP Pradyuman is played by the talented veteran actor Shivaji Satam (1,482 episodes, 1998-2018), the role of Sr. Inspector Abhijeet is played by Aditya Srivastava (1,479 episodes, 1998-2018), Dayanand Shetty plays the role of Sr. Inspector Daya (1,478 episodes, 1998-2018), Inspector Fredricks aka Freddy is played by Dinesh Phadnis (1,478 episodes, 1998-2018), and forensic experts Dr Salunkhe and Dr Tarika are played by Narendra Gupta (1,035 episodes, 1998-2018) and Shraddha Musale (744 episodes, 2007-2018), respectively

CID was directed, created, and produced by B.P. Singh under the banner of Fireworks Productions. CID was distributed in India by Sony Pictures Network, which aired the show on Sony TV.

CID has been shot in various locations both in India and globally. The primary shooting location of CID is Mumbai, Maharashtra, but it has been shot in various other locations like Paris and Switzerland, among other places.

CID Plot

In the name of duty, the C.I.D. crew endures constant adventure, intense strain, and risk. Hard-core crime drama tales with suspense, detection, and investigation make up the series. The main characters of the serial are a select group of police officers from the ACP Pradyuman-led Crime Investigation Department of the police. Although the scenarios are believable, there is a focus on dramatic planning and the technical challenges that the police must overcome. The plot offers exciting turns and turns at every turn to keep the detectives moving as they pursue crooks, guided by the tiniest clues.

CID In News

The show CID first aired on January 21, 1998, and it’s one of India's longest-running television shows. The series ran on Sony TV for 20 years. The most recent episode aired on October 27, 2018. The 500th episode aired on January 26, 2008, the 1,000th episode on September 27, 2013, the 1,500th episode on March 4, 2018, and the final episode, 1547, on October 27, 2018.

The show also holds a spot in the Guinness and the Limca Book of Records for the longest shooting with no cuts, which lasted 111 minutes. It was shot in the year 2004 in Lonavala and was aired in the same year and featured some famous actors like Kay Kay Menon.

CID ran for almost 20 years and has had cameos from some very famous personalities like Aamir Khan, Om Puri, Amar Upadhyay, Hrishikesh Pandey and Rajat Kapoor through the years.
