Darlings is a 2022 Hindi-language black comedy film that was produced by Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Gaurav Verma under the names Red Chillies Entertainment and Eternal Sunshine Productions. It was directed by Jasmeet K. Reen, who was making her directorial debut. Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Mathew play the leading characters in the movie along with Vijay Maurya and Santosh Juvekar, who play supporting parts.

Since they have been married for three years out of love, Hamza has been an alcoholic who hits his wife Badru after consuming alcohol every night. Hamza's insistence on having a kid is one of the many tactics Badru uses to get him to stop drinking. Hamza and the other members of the society are frequently at odds about remodelling the chawl they live in. Badru attends a meeting where the final decision on the building's renovation is to be made. Despite Hamza's request that she not attend the meeting, Badru does so and is assaulted once more. Badru and her mother Shamshu frequently receive visits from Zulfi, who performs odd jobs around the chawl. He is aware of the daily torment Badru endures. He makes a physical violence claim against Hamza. Hamza is detained, but he assures Badru that if they have a child, he would give up drinking. Badru frees Hamza from prison, where he is subjected to further abuse by an unchanging Hamza. Then, Hamza learns that his liver is cirrhotic and that he must stop drinking or he would die.

In the meantime, Hamza is determined to find out who made the complaint against him. He later learns that Zulfi was responsible and that Badru was aware of it the entire time. When Hamza gets home, he learns that Badru is expecting. He continues to strike her because he thinks Zulfi and Badru are having an affair. Badru miscarries as a result of Hamza's severe beatings and pushing her down a flight of stairs. She makes a promise to Hamza that she will treat him just as he does.

When she gets home, she abuses and torments him just like he did to her by giving him sleeping medications, tying his hands and ankles, and beating them. Hamza's manager from work visits him at home to see how he is doing. Shamshu and Badru try to get away with it by saying that he went to the village because his father died, but they are caught. He is informed that Hamza is ill. Badru begins administering the shots to Hamza that her mother received with Kasim's assistance. After making his getaway, Hamza informs the authorities that Badru and her mom are abusing him. He appears to be intoxicated, so the police don't accept his story. To transport him back home, Badru, Shamshu, and Zulfi show up at the police station. Shamshu and Zulfi consider killing Hamza by tying him to a railroad track. In a video that Badru takes of Hamza, he can be heard saying that he is fleeing (to show that he killed). They tie Hamza to the railroad track, but Badru frees him just in time for a train to pass by after realising she is beginning to resemble Hamza. After being freed, Hamza swears to exact revenge on Badru when the latter is struck by a train.

Shamshu confesses to Badru about her father's mistreatment of her even after Badru was conceived while they are on their way back home. One day, Shamshu also murdered Badru's father and enlisted Kasim's assistance in getting rid of the body. She subsequently reported her husband missing, but the police were never able to locate him. Shamshu informs Badru that she made the right choice in leaving him permanently before he passed away. Badru agrees that Hamza's actions have led to this outcome. They hold Hamza's burial a few days later. Badru beams with joy at her current freedom and optimism for the future.

Darlings has been well received by the critics, who praised the acting performance of Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah along with the direction, screenplay and storyline of the movie.
