Diya Aur Baati Hum is a 1,487-episode Indian television serial opera that aired on Star Plus from August 29, 2011 until September 10, 2016. Shashi Sumeet Productions produced the film. Anas Rashid and Deepika Singh featured in the lead roles. 

Set against the backdrop of Pushkar, Rajasthan, Diya Aur Baati Hum aimed to debunk stereotypes about women in rural India by following Sandhya Rathi's inspiring path to becoming an IPS officer. With the support of her husband, Sooraj, she fulfils her aim despite all challenges.

Sandhya Kothari, played by Deepika Singh is a bright and well-educated young woman who wishes to be an IPS officer for her father Arvind. Sooraj Rathi, played by Anas Rashid a semi-educated and unassuming young master-confectioner, is the ideal older heir to his Rajasthani middle-class traditional family. Sandhya's world is devastated later when her parents are killed in a terrorist strike. Her brother, Ankur, arranges for her to marry Sooraj, whose conservative mother, Santosh, desires a simple and uneducated daughter-in-law with outstanding housewife abilities. As a result, Ankur lies about Sandhya's educational background. What follows is a series of revelations and a story of eternal love that won the hearts of many and also a few awards during the course of its run which includes the Zee Gold Award for Best TV Show (Fiction) and the Indian Telly Award for the Best Daily Serial.

The show also stars some prominent actors like Kanica Maheshwari, Ashok Lokhande and Sherish Ail, among others.
