Gadar Ek Prem Katha is a Hindi movie filled with action and romance set during the partition of India in 1947 period. The Gadar Ek Prem Katha movie is based loosely on the life of Boota  Singh a Sikh ex-soldier of the British army and famous for his tragic love story with Zainab a Muslim girl that he rescued.

Gadar Ek Prem Katha Plot

The plot revolves around the year 1947. A wealthy Muslim girl named Sakeena, whom Tara, a Sikh truck driver in Punjab, accidentally encounters and falls in love with during the anti-Muslim rioting. Tara ends up saving sakeena and ties the knot with her. Years later, Sakeena makes a trip to Pakistan to see her father, who is now the mayor of a small Pakistani city. During their stay, Tara opposes Sakeena's father's attempts to separate them and force her into an arranged marriage with a wealthy man who shares her religion and age. the story follows Sakeena's father laying down a few conditions that Tara needs to fulfill to get Sakeena back. 

Gadar Ek Prem Katha was a hit at the box office and became the highest-grossing film surpassing the previous box office hut Hum Apke Hain Kaun. the film ended up setting records at single screen cinema some of which still stands unbeaten.
