Gymnastics is a physical activity that calls for coordination, balance, strength, flexibility, agility, and endurance. The arm, leg, shoulder, back, chest, and abdominal muscular groups all develop as a result of gymnastics movements.

Gymnastics developed from circus performance skills and from exercises practiced by the ancient Greeks that included horse mounting and dismounting techniques.

The most common form of competitive gymnastics is artistic gymnastics (AG), which consists of, for women (WAG), the events floor, vault, uneven bars, and beam; and for men (MAG), the events floor, vault, rings, pommel horse, parallel bars, and horizontal bar.

The Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique is the global governing body for gymnastics (FIG). The FIG oversees eight sports, including rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatic, aerobic, men's and women's artistic gymnastics, double mini-trampoline, tumbling, and gymnastics for all. Wheel gymnastics, artistic group gymnastics, Team Gym, and Mallakhamba are among the disciplines that FIG does not officially recognize.

Young children, recreational athletes, and competitive athletes of all ability levels all participate in gymnastics-related sports. A few Gymnastics athletes to name are Sanjay Yadav and Prashant Khose.
