Abhishek Kapoor is the director of the 2018 romantic tragedy movie Kedarna, produced by RSVP Movies and Guy in the Sky Pictures. The film stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan in the key roles and Alka Amin, Nitish Bharadwaj and Pooja Gor in the supporting roles. The movie portrays the interfaith love story of a wealthy Hindu Brahmin girl, whose family owns a lodge and shops close to the revered Kedarnath Temple in the Uttarakhand highlands, and a Muslim guy, a "pithoo" (porter) who works in the same area. When the heavy rains of the 2013 Uttarakhand floods damage the region, the couple is forced to survive against the elements and confront the ultimate test of their love. As their romance deepens, they encounter numerous challenges, including family criticism and differing origins.

Mansoor Khan, a Muslim porter who lives in the Kedarnath Temple valley in 2013, is based there. Hindu priest Brijraj's younger daughter, Mandakini "Mukku" Mishra, manages the temple committee's motel for pilgrims nearby. She is engaged to Kullu, the chief priest's nephew. He was supposed to wed Brinda, her older sister. They both participated in childhood activities, but he ditched Brinda in favour of her prettier sister Mukku, and Brijraj concurred. In an effort to humiliate Brijraj and Kullu, Mukku mingles with the neighbourhood lads and persuades them to visit her home and pop the question.

Mansoor, on the other hand, is unique in that they both notice each other, but Mukku initiates contact and hires him as her daily porter when she travels from her house to a neighbouring area to assist at her uncle's store. She engages him in endless conversation and obscene flirtation until she finally receives enough of a response to know that he shares her sentiments. Together, they are stranded in the rain; they talk about their early years before sharing a kiss.

Infuriated by jealousy, Brinda accuses Mukku of flirting with Mansoor in the same way that she has done with the other boys. When he questions her, Mukku is powerless to defend herself. Nevertheless, she begins to follow him everywhere and ends up sitting in the rain in front of his house. Brinda tries to protect her, but when she is exposed, Brijraj and Kullu pursue her with the intention of expelling all Muslims, which, not so coincidentally, will provide room for the brand-new luxury hotel they are designing.

Her family brings Mukku home and schedules her wedding earlier. She yet continues to insist that Mansoor will find her. Mansoor arrives, but Kullu and his men spot him and viciously beat him. Mansoor is carried unconscious back to his house by a friend after pleading for help to save him. Mansoor resolves not to leave the valley without Mukku as the porter community gets ready to leave.

Mukku, who is married to Kullu, attempts suicide by slitting her wrist but is saved by her family; Kullu then teases Mansoor with the information. In order for them to depart the valley together, Mansoor runs to Mukku and swears he will return for her that evening after she has healed. Kullu intends to expel all Muslims by killing Mansoor with his group of priests. Then it starts to rain, and the flooding starts. Mansoor sends his mother Ameena into the mountains with the other porters before sprinting into Mukku. While Kullu and his mother are being pushed in by the storm and Mukku refuses to go, she and her family are attempting to gather the hotel's guests on the top level.

The floor suddenly collapses, sweeping away half the other people in addition to Brinda and the mothers of the sisters. Just as the water is about to descend, Mansoor discovers Mukku, Brijraj, and a few others at the temple. In the river, he clutches her hand; Brijraj clings on to her; and the three of them are saved. They move to a place that is still intact when the water recedes and wave to a rescue helicopter from the Indian Army as it approaches.

Prior to getting ready to go himself, Mansoor sends up the accompanying woman and child, Brijraj, Mukku, and then the mother and child alone. The family's father hasn't left yet, so Mansoor makes a sacrifice and sends him in his place because there is only room for one more person. Mansoor dies when the earth below him collapses into the roaring river, and Mukku screams hopelessly as she witnesses it. Three years later, in the winter, when the Kedarnath Temple's presiding deity makes its way back from the Ukhimath Temple, Mukku is still visible living with Brijraj and managing the lodge. She is also seen listening to Mansoor's favourite song, which she dedicated to him, on the radio while grinning.

Kedarnath went on to receive mostly positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, with many people praising the debutant Sara Ali Khan and her co-star Sushant Singh Rajput for their convincing performances. The storyline was criticised for being too predictable but the strong visuals and acting performances saved the day for the movie.
