The Odia movie industry also referred to as Ollywood, is an Indian film industry that produces movies in the Odia language. It is located in the Indian states of Cuttack and Bhubaneshwar. 

The words Hollywood and Odia were combined to create the name Ollywood. The Odisha Government founded the Odisha Film Development Corporation in Cuttack in 1976 after declaring film production and the building of movie theatres as an industry in the state in 1974.

Anubhav Mohanty, Amar Chhinchani, Janklin Parida, Mihir Das, Babushaan Mohanty, Prakruti Mishra, Shradha Panigrahi, Poonam Mishra, etc. are among the popular actors in Odia Cinema.

Sita Bibaha, directed by Mohan Sundar Deb Goswami in 1936, is the first Odia movie. The tale of Sita and Ram's marriage is taken from the Indian epic Ramayana. The movie's narrative was adapted from a play by Kamapala Mishra. 

In the early years, Odia movie production moved at a very slow rate. Only two movies were made after Sita Bibaha till 1951. In 1960, Prasanta Nanda's first movie, Nua Bou, won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Odia. 

Prasanta Nanda would always be associated with the Odia film business. He first appeared in Odia movies in 1959, but it wasn't until 1976 that he really got going. Nanda was a playback vocalist, lyricist, screenwriter, actor, and director.
