In 2015, Rajshri Productions released the love drama Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which was written and directed by Sooraj Barjatya. It has Anupam Kher, Sanjay Mishra, Manoj Joshi, and Armaan Kohli in supporting parts in addition to Salman Khan, Sonam Kapoor, and Neil Nitin Mukesh in the key roles.

Yuvraj Affluent Pritampur crown prince Vijay Singh will soon be anointed king. Rajkumari Maithili Devi, a princess from the royal house of the neighbouring nation Devgarh, is the love of his life. But Vijay has a lot of problems with Maithili and his siblings because of his rigid, unyielding attitude. Rajkumari Chandrika and Rajkumari Radhika, his wealthy half-sisters, reside outside the royal palace in a separate rented home.

They believe the Queen harmed their mother when she degraded her in front of all of the King's children, and Chandrika, who is the accounts head at a municipal school, has sued Vijay for a piece of the royal property. Additionally, Chandrika and Maithili, who were best friends in school, have lost contact as a result of her engagement to Vijay. Similar to him, Yuvraj Ajay Singh, his half-brother, swears revenge and has been planning to assassinate him and claim the throne for himself.

He enlists the aid of Chirag Singh, his manager, and Sameera, Vijay's secretary. Chirag leads Ajay astray at every turn while covering for him behind his back. Vijay narrowly survives an Ajay and Chirag-planned assassination attempt on his life but sustains serious injuries. He is kept in a hidden compartment that two doctors look after.

Prem Raghuvanshi, a love guru and stage actor who is identical to Vijay and goes by the stage name Prem Dilwale, arrives in Pritampur to see Princess Maithili with his friend Kanhaiya.

Sanjay, the Pritampur Palace's security chief, happens to see him at a bus stop and brings him to the Diwan Sahib. When Diwan noticed how much Prem and Yuvraj Vijay looked alike, he asked Prem to stand in for Yuvraj while he was in a coma. Prem poses as Yuvraj Vijay, but his affable, kind demeanour wins Maithili over. Maithili later falls in love with Prem without realising it. Prem also makes an effort to patch things up with Vijay's sisters by inviting them back to the palace and drafting legal paperwork transferring ownership of all of the royal family's assets to them. With a little prodding from Maithili, his half-sisters eventually have a change of heart and decline to rob the prince of his money and make amends with him as their brother. They are so moved by this act of kindness.

In the meantime, Yuvraj Ajay and Chirag abduct the real Vijay after learning that Prem is simply pretending to be the prince. As he releases Vijay and gives him fake information to put him against Ajay and Prem, Chirag plans to double cross Ajay. Prem and Kanhaiya step in to diffuse the chaos just as Vijay and Ajay start fighting with swords. Chirag attempts to fire them down but loses his balance and dies. Ajay repents of his actions, and Vijay makes peace with him. After Prem has departed to go back to his home and left Maithili devastated, Maithili is horrified to learn the truth about Prem not being Yuvraj Vijay.

Prem and Maithili are reunited when the royal family arrives at Prem's home, and they blissfully married with Kanhaiyya and Sameera.
