A broad category of motorsport known as rally includes competitive driving features such speed tests (often referred to as rally racing), navigational challenges, and the ability to reach checkpoints or a destination in a set amount of time or at a certain average speed. The person who operates the vehicle during the rally is known as the driver or the Racer.

Rallies can range in length from a few hundred miles for an extreme endurance rally to many thousand miles for trials at a single location.

Rallies can be held off-road in the style of a cross-country or rally-raid, on private or public roads open to traffic or closed to it, depending on the format. Competitors may utilise either production cars, which must be road-legal if driven on public roads, or cars designed specifically for competitive use on a given type of terrain.

Rallying is often distinguishable from other types of motorsport by not pitting racers against one another over laps of a track, but rather by using a point-to-point style in which competitors depart from one or more start points at regular intervals.

The different types of Rallies include Road Rallies, Off- Road Rallies and Touring assemblies.

There are also different derivatives of Rallying such as Hillclimbing, Autocross, Rallycross, Rallysprint, Formula Rally, Ice Racing etc.

Race car drivers or Racers usually earn around 41000$ on average. A driver who could have the ability to triumph in a rally on one surface but not another is referred to as a specialist driver. Some instances of specialty drivers include Gilles Panizzi, who won multiple races on asphalt in the WRC but never advanced past fifth place on gravel; Shekhar Mehta, who won five Safari Rally competitions but never aimed to win the world title. A few other specialist drivers include Mats Jonsson and Garima Avtar.

A few rally racing events in which racers can compete are Andros Trophy, Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally, Australian Rally Championship, Canadian Rally Championship, and British Rally Championship.
