The serial's plot revolves around Anokhi and Shaurya's love story. Shaurya Sabherwal, a misogynist from Chandigarh, hails from a wealthy family. He believes that women should be limited to domestic duties only. He develops such a personality since his mother, Aastha, left him as a child to pursue her career, as Shaurya's caretakers or uncle and aunt informed him. She left her, though, since she needed to care for her elderly parents.

Anokhi Bhalla is a powerful and determined young woman who aspires to change society's attitude about women. Her ideology was distinct, and she sought to reform the patriarchal culture. Anokhi's marriage was arranged with Monty, an alcoholic. Her in-laws have assured her that she would be able to continue her education after the wedding. However, the family's true colors are revealed. Anokhi tries to persuade her father to call off the wedding, but he refuses. Anokhi runs away from home to pursue higher education with the support of Babli and Rama. She is accepted to Sabherwal Institute of Arts and Commerce with the help of Aastha (SIAC). Shaurya tries to ask Anokhi hard questions during the interview. However, she answers all of the questions correctly and is eventually accepted into the college.

Shaurya eventually develops feelings for Anokhi. He experiences a change of heart as a result of Anokhi. He accepts Aastha as his mother. Then, after a lot of drama, Anokhi and Shaurya got married. The serial concludes with the Sabherwals reuniting as a happy family after finally adopting Anokhi as their daughter-in-law. The show was a hit with the audience.
