John Matthew Matthan produced and directed the drama film Shikhar, which was released in 2005 in India's Hindi language. Ajay Devgn, Bipasha Basu, Shahid Kapoor, and Amrita Rao portray the main characters in the movie; Manoj Joshi, Javed Sheikh, and Sushant Singh also have significant roles.

The main character of the movie is an overly ambitious businessman who connives to sell him his land so that he can use it to construct his skyscraper projects.

Gaurav Gupta, a wealthy businessman who began with little and thinks that only money can fuel his dreams, is the subject of the story. He decides to build a tower in an abandoned village after becoming interested in doing so, and he enlists the help of corrupt politician Amrit Patil to accomplish so. Shrikant Vardhan, the land's owner, refuses to permit the tower to be built. Jaidev, Shrikant's son, is infected with the get-rich-quick virus, so Gaurav connives to get him to participate in his scheme.

The protagonist of the novel is affluent businessman Gaurav Gupta, who came from humble beginnings and believes that only money can support his aspirations. After growing interested in doing so, he intends to erect a tower in an abandoned village, and he recruits the aid of dishonest politician Amrit Patil to do so. The owner of the property, Shrikant Vardhan, opposes allowing the tower to be constructed. Shrikant's son Jaidev gets infected with the virus of getting rich quick, so Gaurav schemes to entice him to join his plan.

Gaurav tries to blackmail Jaidev along the way, and he succeeds. Jaidev attempts to foil Gaurav's scheme as soon as he becomes aware of it, but is attacked in the process. Jaidev repents of his errors, offers his father an apology, and attempts to combat Gaurav. When Gaurav learns this, he becomes enraged and starts a fire, but Jaidev eventually puts out the fire and frees the prisoners. The village land is eventually spared, and Gaurav and Amrit are promptly detained for their crimes. Jaidev makes amends with his father and begins assisting him in his business.
