Shubh Vivah is a Hindi TV series about a father, and his five kids  and their attempts to alter the terrible realities of their existence are the main subjects of the novel.

The protagonists of the novel are Mr. Saxena and his five amiable, naive, and gentle daughters who reside in Agra.

Amrit, a young guy from Vrindavan, impresses Saroj, Mr. Saxena's second daughter, but in fact, he is having an affair with Sarla, a married woman. Amrit and Saroj exchange vows. Karuna, Saroj's older sister, weds Madan, the son of a friend of Mr. Saxena on the same day.

Saroj discovers Amrit's infidelity after their marriage, but she keeps it to herself. Saroj tries desperately to save her union, but she is unable to do so.
