A supermodel, sometimes spelt super-model or super model, is a high-paid fashion model with a global reputation and a background in haute couture and commercial modeling. A few Popular Supermodels from India include Summer Jacobs, Neelam Lohar, and Lakshya Sharma.

The phrase 'supermodel' gained widespread in popular culture during the 1990s. Supermodels typically work for well-known fashion designers and apparel companies. They may have multimillion-dollar contracts, endorsements, and marketing campaigns. 

Supermodels have become household names, and their modeling careers have brought them worldwide fame. They've graced the covers of major fashion magazines.

You may earn between $200 and $1,000, or you could get to keep part of the show's items in exchange for payment. Corestone Models owner Gabriela Pierantoni estimates that skilled runway models can make $500-$2,500 per show. In contrast, supermodels can earn up to $20,000 for a runway show.

'To become a supermodel, one must appear on all the covers all over the world at the same time so that people can recognize the girls,' Claudia Schiffer noted in 2007.

From complaints that women desiring this status become unhealthily thin to charges of racism of dominant racial groups of the home countries in the first decade of the twenty-first century, where the 'supermodel' generally has to conform to the native majority's standard of beauty, for example, Northern European standards in the United States or Indian standards in India, perception of the supermodel as an industry has been frequent both inside and outside the fashion press.
