A Hindi television soap opera called Tamanna ran on Star Plus from February 1 through June 26, 2016. It follows Dharaa's journey as she pursues her dream of playing cricket while defying social and familial expectations with the help of her father. Anuja Sathe, Ram Kapoor, Deepak Wadhwa, Vishal Gandhi, and Ketki Dave play the main characters in the show.

The focus of the narrative is Dharaa, who aspires to play cricket, and the sacrifices she must make to realise her goal. With her father's assistance, Dharaa quickly persuades her grandmother to play cricket. She keeps improving her game, and the future seemed bright. However, the abrupt decline in her father's health persuades her to accept Mihir's proposal of marriage, a man with whom her alliance was supposed to be established. She initially feels content and keeps playing cricket, but she quickly realises how chauvinistic her husband is. He dominates Dharaa and treats her like a prisoner. He even went so far as to question her moral character and thinks Shubhangi, the daughter he beared with Dharaa, is actually Diwakar's, his boss and neighbour rather than his own. Dharaa has enough of Mihir's tantrums so she decides to leave him.

M.N. Roy then hires Dharaa to coach cricket at a school in Merut. Upon observing the animosity between the Hindu and Muslim pupils, she decides to form one squad at first. She is successful in her endeavour, but Sanjay and Salamat's minor altercation leads to rioting in Bulandganj once more. She makes the decision to step down, but after receiving an apology from the class, she decides to return to coaching. When Mihir gets to Bulandganj, he starts gathering proof that Dharaa is a bad mother in order to win Shubhangi's custody. However, Dharaa persuades the judge that she is capable of being a single parent while also providing coaching. Then Mihir repents his error and leaves.

Bhanu Pratap and Khan plan to start riots, attack Bashir, and murder Gafur but are subsequently apprehended. Sanjay and Salamat become friends during this time, and Mridula also gives birth to a boy. Dharaa's team is chosen for the competition, and they work arduously to take home the title. Mihir returns to Dharaa, but Dharaa rejects him and sends him back to Jamnagar.
