Whose Line Is It Anyway is an American improv comedy television programme that is based on the same-named British programme. Drew Carey served as the host from August 5, 1998, until December 15, 2007, when it first aired on Whose Line is it Anyway and Whose Line is it Anyway Family. On July 16, 2013, The CW launched the Aisha Tyler-hosted reboot of the programme.

The show's main performers are Ryan Stiles, Colin Mochrie, and Wayne Brady, with a guest panellist filling the fourth spot. There are occasions when a guest star helps the performer. The show is currently being hosted by Aisha Tyler. 

The television programme was given a nineteenth season on May 19, 2022. IMDb has given it a rating of 8.5 out of 10.

In the form of brief improvisation games, the show consists of a team of four entertainers who invent characters, scenarios, and songs on the fly. The presenter would build up a game and environment that the artists would improvise in, and topics for the games would either be based on audience requests or prepared instructions from the host. After every game, the original host Drew Carey awarded random point totals, frequently providing a hilarious justification. The points had no functional value and were merely ornamental. He would say Whose Line is 'the show where everything's made up and the points don't matter' at the opening of each episode and several more times during.

The games were different in terms of style. Some had just one or two of the four performers, while others had more. The performers sat on four seats with their backs to the audience in between games. The performers who weren't taking part in a game stayed seated. The show also featured hilarious interactions between the host, performers, and audience members.

At the end of each episode, Carey selected one or more winners at random. Playing a game with the host or choosing to watch the other entertainers perform was the 'reward.' In the first instalment of the show, credits merely rolled after this game to the show's music. In season two, the presentation of the credits was done comedically by one or more cast members based on a topic revealed by Carey, which frequently came from a funny joke that had been told earlier in the show.
