The terrible story of Bajaba Mahipati and his wife, played by Ashok Saraf and Smita Talwalkar, is continued in the movie. Despite their dire circumstances, they dedicate money to Digambar's education, who grows up to place first in his district in the HSc examinations. While his wife works as the hamlet's nursemaid, Bajaba rides his bicycle from the village to neighbouring town displaying the Bioscope to schoolchildren in order to support his family. Father feels concerned when young Digamber (Santosh Juvekar) asks him to provide him with money totaling Rs. 2.5 lakhs for his engineering enrollment and dorm costs. However, Digamber's benevolent mother advises her husband to sell his ancestral property. The story further follows how the son disowns his family to live a lavish life and how in the end the father teaches his son a good lesson.

Even though the movie is a tearjerker, it is made more appealing by outstanding photography, stellar acting, and flawless editing.
