A film producer is a person who manages the making of movies. Producers plan and organize different parts of film production, such as choosing the script, organising writing, directing, editing, and securing funding, whether they are employed by a production company or working on their own.

The pre-production, principal photography, and post-production phases of filmmaking are also under the producer's control. A producer is also in charge of selecting the film's director and other important staff members. 

Yash Chopra, Anurag Kashyap, Dharma Productions, Red Chillies Entertainment, Yash Raj Films, Ajay Devgn, S. S. Rajamouli, etc. are some of the most famous producers and production companies in India.

Raghu Ram, Meet Bros, Sanjay Bhatia,  Vandana Sajnani Khattar, Naved Jafri, Sanjay Goradia, Ssumier Pasricha, Sunny Arora, Saurabhh Dhingra, Sai Deodhar, Tanuj Garg, etc. are also other prominent film producers in India.

Although some directors also produce their own films, the producer normally oversees logistical and business operations while the director is in charge of the artistic decisions during production. In the final phases before release, the producer will be in charge of managing the movie's marketing and distribution. The producer is responsible for making sure the movie is delivered on time and within budget.

Producers are not always able to oversee the entire production. The chief producer or executive producer in this scenario may employ and assign tasks to associate producers, assistant producers, line producers, or unit production managers.
