When Afreen refuses, Mehta demands that she pay a compensation of 10 lakh INR within a month or face imprisonment. Afreen decides to try to resolve with her grandfather Abu Tariq, a former Brigadier in the Pakistani Army, and collect money from him. As a result, she flies to Karachi, Pakistan, only to learn that he died of illness a few days ago and that she is supposed to deliver a letter written in 1965 by Indian Army Lieutenant Ram to Sita Mahalakshmi of Hyderabad, India, which her grandfather was unable to deliver via post.
Tariq's will states that she will inherit his wealth only after the letter is delivered to Sita. With no other option, Afreen travels to Hyderabad's Noor Jahan Palace, where the letter is intended, but discovers that the palace was donated by its princess Noor Jahan for higher education of girls twenty years ago.
Afreen is initially furious, but eventually gives up and sets out to find Sita and deliver the letter from Major Ram. The letter was written nearly two decades ago, in 1965. Afreen's search for a non-existent Sita instructs her that Ram was an honorable orphan soldier. After an activist reveals on national radio that Ram does not have a family of his own, the soldier begins receiving letters from people all over the world.
Ram is initially overwhelmed, but he responds to each letter tirelessly. Sita Mahalaxmi, who claims to be Ram's wife, is one such sender. She writes him letters with no return address. Ram is determined to find Sita and responds to her letters with the promise of delivering them.
Ram has found someone to call his own in Sita. He sets out to find her, only to discover that Sita Mahalaxmi is a dance teacher who works in a Royal Mansion. He attempts to win Sita over, and the soldier's charm works. Sita has fallen in love with him, but she is unable to tell Ram the truth about her true identity.
Sita is actually Princess Noor Jahan, the heir to the Royal Mansion. Ram, unaware of Sita's true identity, waits for her at the train station before departing for Kashmir. Due to a financial crisis, Princess Noor Jahan's brother arranges for her to marry a Mughal Prince.
Unwilling to let Ram go, Princess Noor Jahan aka Sita declines the wedding proposal and travels to Kashmir in search of Ram. They reunite, but Ram is soon sent on a top-secret purpose to Pakistan.
The mission of Ram and his team is to kill Ansari, the man responsible for Pakistani citizens' rage against the Indian Army. The crew is told that if they are unable to kill Ansari, the soldiers will be abandoned in Pakistan. Sita (Princess Noon Jahan) bids Ram farewell as he departs for his mission, requesting that he return as soon as possible. Ram kills Ansari, and his crew is about to leave. Ram, on the other hand, hears a child wailing inside Ansari's burning hut. When the rest of the soldiers flee, he rushes in to save her. Captain Vishnu stays behind to assist Ram in saving the young girl Waheeda.
Ram hands over Waheeda to Captain Abu Tariq. The Pakistani Army arrests Ram and Vishnu and confines them in solitary confinement for months, torturing the two Indian soldiers.
Sita confronts the Army Brigadiers after becoming frustrated with Ram's failure to return from his mission. When she discovers that Ram has been captured by the Pakistani Army. However, the Pakistani Brigadier says that either Ram or Vishnu can return to India. He requests that Ram and Vishnu reveal the coordinates. Ram spits in the face of the Pakistani soldier, refusing to betray his country, but Captain Vishnu is concerned for the safety of his family.
Balaji eventually locates Sita, aka Princess Noor Jahan, and presents her with the letter Ram wrote to her almost ten years ago.Meanwhile, Brigadier Vishnu accuses Afreen of being to blame for Ram's exile from Sita. According to Vishnu, Afreen was Waheeda, the little girl whose cries Ram had heard before being captured by the Pakistani Army. Afreen is taken aback and realises why her grandfather assigned her to personally deliver Ram's letter to Sita. Brigadier Vishnu wants to prevent Afreen from delivering the letter to Sita because he is afraid she will learn about his betrayal of the country and make the information public. Afreen claims that the letter was sent to Balaji.
Sita reads the letter from Ram which includes a news article about Sita being Princess Noor Jahan in his letter and praises her for giving up her royal life for love. In the letter, he refers to her as Princess Noor Jahan, which makes her even more emotional.
