Shaan, also known as Shantanu Mukherjee, is a playback singer, actor, composer, and live performer from India.

His birthday is on the 30th of September 1972. He was born in Mumbai, India. His zodiac sign is Libra.

Shaan hails from a musically-rich Bengali family. His late father, Manas Mukherjee, was a music director, his grandmother Jahar Mukherjee was a well-known writer, and his sister Sagarika was a vocalist.

Shaan started out performing jingles for commercials. Jingles were played along with remixes and cover songs. Shaan and his sister released a few successful albums after they joined the Magnasound recording firm. These albums included the number-one Naujawan and the follow-up Q-Funk. After this, Shaan started Love-Ology. From his album Tanha Dil, he performed the smash hit song Tanha Dil Tanha Safar in 2000.

He received the MTV Asia Award for Favorite Artist India in 2002 for his album Tanha Dil, which won best solo album. Shaan released his successful album Aksar a year later, featuring songs with international musicians like Blue, Melanie C, and Samira Said. Except for the title track, Tanha Dil, which Ram Sampath wrote, Shaan sang, composed, and wrote the lyrics for every song on Tanha Dil and Aksar.

In 2004, he and his sister jointly released the Bengali album Tomar Aakash, which included previously unheard music by his father. He and MLTR recorded the song Take me to your heart in 2006. The song can be found on his album Tishnagi, engineered and produced by Ashish Manchanda and Ranjit Barot.

In the 1999 film Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi, Shaan made his playback singing debut, singing two songs. The song Musu Musu Hasi immediately connected with the audience and was particularly relatable to young people. He just recorded a playback for the upcoming Dabbu-composed Bengali feature film Network. The films Zameen and Hungama featured his tunes.

In addition to getting numerous nominations, Shaan's songs Chand Sifarish from the film Fanaa and Jab Se Tere Naina from Saawariya both won the Filmfare Best Male Playback Award and the Zee Cine Award for Best Playback Singer - Male. For his album Tanha Dil, he received the 2002 MTV Asia Music Award for a best solo album. He will be seen in the Musical films Music School which is based in both hindi and english.
