Rajkumar Hirani, also known as Raju Hirani, is an Indian filmmaker, director, producer, and editor best known for his Hindi film work. He has received numerous honours, including three National Film Awards and eleven Filmfare Awards. Hirani is regarded as one of India's most successful filmmakers. His films are often lighthearted, but they deal with serious societal issues with humour and emotional intelligence.
After graduating from FTII in editing and beginning his career as a film editor, a bad experience forced him to shift to ad films, where he created several successful commercials. He made his professional editing debut with Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Mission Kashmir (2000).
Despite his desire to make films, Hirani took a one-year hiatus and returned with the script of Munna Bhai MBBS to Chopra, who assisted him in financing it, and Chopra produced it himself.
