Merchant is famous for her roles in the TV shows Hip Hip Hurray, Ek Hasina Thi, Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar, Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal, Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani, and Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan. She took part in the 2015 season of the television show Bigg Boss 9.

In 1997, Kishwer Merchant got her start in entertainment with the TV show Shaktimaan, where she played a helper named Julia. After that, from 1998 to 2000, she played Nonie on the hit show Hip Hip Hurray. After that, Kishwar was in a lot of famous and well-liked shows, such as Babul Ki Duwayen Leti Jaa, Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand, Kutumb, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kayaamat – Jabb Bhi Waqt Aata Hai, Hatim, and Khichdi. 

Kishwar has been in a lot of Balaji shows, including Kkavyanjali and Kasamh Se. In 2007, she played the good girl Tamanna on the hit youth show Miley Jab Hum Tum with Sanaya Irani and Arjun Bijlani. She is well-known for her role as Haseena in the famous Sukirti Kandpal and Vivian Dsena show Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani. In the second season of the hit show Chhoti Bahu, she played the part of Sonia.

Merchant was in three shows in 2012: Arjun, Amrit Manthan, and Teri Meri Love Stories. Many shows followed, including Hongey Judaa Na Hum and Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi. Like Drashti Dhami and Sanjeeda Sheikh, she shared the screen with them in famous shows like Ek Hasina Thi as Raima, Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon as Ananya, Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan as Nyonika, and Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar as Dimpy.

It was 2015, and Merchant and her boyfriend Suyyash Rai were on the reality TV show Bigg Boss 9. They teamed her up with Aman Verma. Merchant, who was in the last part of the Ticket to Finale task, was forced to quit and left the house with Rs 15 lakhs.

In 2016, Kishwar came back with Balaji's famous show Brahmarakshas, where she played Aparajita, the main villain.

She was seen in another Ekta Kapoor show, Dhhai Kilo Prem, in April 2017. This one airs on Star Plus. In a small role, she played Shilpa. She was in Rashmi Sharma's Savitri Devi College & Hospital on Colours in May 2017, but she quit the show later that month. Aditi Sharma stars in the And TV show Gangaa, and Kishwar played Asha on that show. The last episode aired on June 2, 2017.
